after about 4 hours of trial and error "we" figured out an easy way to get the lasting hexagonal pattern for the under suits. possibility of a trade for sheets

We made them and they are 1/16in thick.

we have been trying to figure out the best way to get the pattern in the foam but finally after like 3 weeks we figured it out.. (HINT: we are bee keepers lol)

Its starts as foam sheets and we are working on breathe able material in our "r&d" depertment shouldnt take long.

right now we are under deadline for our suits, we will make them available with in the next few weeks all depending on if we choose to just tell everyone or try for a trade to help us out a little considering we are really really new to this..

Btw they can come in any color and varying sizes

looks really great. iam wondering how do you managed this. heating a synthetic honeycomb and press it on the foamsheets?
i live in germany and i dont think that its possible for me to order some of your products. i hope you will tell us the secret

and btw: what kind of foam do you use?
i think you use something like microcellular rubber or foam rubber which usually have this specs: density of 140Kg/m³ (+- 25Kg/m³)

Something like that, for right now we are going to keep it a trade secret ( our way is A LOT cheaper then buying that kind of press)

That particular press has the hexagonal shape but you would need the negative to do it.

I'm seriously hoping you decide to share the method rather than attempt to capitalize on it. The undersuit is the only thing really holding me back from starting a Halo 4 build.

Its not so much we want to capitalize as we want our suits to be unique at least until we have ours complete, if we do choose to "capitalize" it would most likely be a trade for information and tips maybe pieces not a monetary gain.

My guess? Perhaps they took a honey comb section from a hive and simply pressed it into the foam to leave an impression. Not a natural honey comb, but perhaps an artificial one. I bet such things exist.

This might be achieved by heating the comb and then like a press, plunging it into the foam so that it creates a lasting pattern (like folks do with a soldering iron).

or maybe a variation on that and a heat press, on certain foams you can heat press permanent designs into them.

Exactly, if you don't heat the object you're using as a press, perhaps you can heat the foam and then press it.

Yeah, you might have to make several passes but I think that's not unreasonable given the level of detail you are getting.
