Yeah I'm actually planning on creating (Kit) .pdo sets that will let you build attachments for the helmet. For instance, the binoculars that Romeo has will be able to be build and fit perfectly onto the base. And I plan on making a similar set up to allow you to upgrade your helm with parts from Dutch's helmet.

Exactly what I was thinking of! If engineered right, you can have 1 helmet but all 5 variants. This idea would probably work well for halo Reach stuff as well, since there's lots of add-ons and junk.

And I'm still scratching my head about the visor. I'm not going to cut motorcycle visors, and I only want a vacuum formed visor if I can get blue mirrored tint on it. I may have to send out a custom order for a bunch

Hey Hugh, you should get in contact with Thorssoli. He's found a way to vacuform acrylic and create a slight mirrored effect. You could probably achieve the same effect using blue/lightblue for the ODST visor. :D

Update!

Wow, so it has been a really crazy few weeks. Let me say first of all that this account is now the way to contact me! With the forum attack and host change the Facebook log-in feature was killed off, so I was forced to register like everyone else.

Unfortunately, I could not contact an admin regarding the situation because I was not logged in o_O So I created this account and contacted Adam and explained the situation. Hopefully all is well. It just sucks that now I can't edit my main page.

In other news, during the forum attacks the company I was working for decided pack up and head to NY and left me behind. But, I got offered an interview with a very large company a couple weeks later. I can't say who it is yet, but they were willing to book me a flight, rental car, and hotel just to meet me.

When I had to fly out Sunday night Delta told me that my flight was delayed due to maintenance issues. Then they switched planes and the back-up plane had maintenance issues! So then Delta tells me I have to re-book my flight for the next morning (after my interview) Very sucky situation. I decided last minute to jump in my car and make the 7 hour trip North. Called the company and let them know about the situation and told them, "I'm going to be there on time, I'm going to make this work." Needless to say it definitely helped me look good for the interview (other than the blood shot eyes).

So thank you Delta for being so horrible at what you do! :)

Now for an ODST Update:

I haven't had time to work on prop or pepakura projects due to having to refocus all my energy on my career. But what I did get done during the attacks is what you see here.
I've completed the "battle-damaged" version of my helm...

Glad to see you back buddy!! Kinda sucks about the whole airline situation, but it's good to hear that you still made it. I hope everything works out for you with the new company. The helmet turned out great as well!!

man I know I am late to the party but how do I get my hands on this sweet helmet
....geez it's nice

Goodluck with that, prob shouldn't start your first post on a forum with such a blunt question on acquiring such nice workmanship!!

On a side note....This is AWESOME buddy!!

B-E-A-UTIFUL
I'm starting on my ODST build soon and I'm anxious to see what you do about the visor, so i will definitely be watching :D

Daang looking good!
Looking forward to those Thigh and Torso models, most accurate ones so far!
I just quickly read through to see if I missed anything since my last post.. Hope everything works out!

holy crap! that is a very nice peice of workmanship!
it's so much more detailed than my first ODST Helm... and that one didn't fit, so i gave it to my little brother instead.

New Job

I got the job! YEAH! I know this is unrelated but I don't care it's my thread. Guess in the next few weeks I'll be moving to Atlanta and begin working as a 3D Design Engineer for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics..

Time to move into a house with a real garage and finish this project!

Also:http://www.405th.com/member.php/3688-mkshane81 mkshane81 is currently working on an official unfold of my helmet that's easier for everyone to work with and scale. Stay tuned...

Wow, you got a job at Lockheed Martin? Way to go buddy! *thumbs up!*

As for the ODST helmet (And armor models), they look absolutely amazing. If you ever release the Torso files, I would gladly use it. Cheers!

Another congratulations Hugh!! It's great to hear that you got in with an extremely reputable like Lockheed. I think it would be pretty exciting to do something like that.

On another note: I know that you're going to be extremely busy with the new job, and move, and everything. As I was working on the unfold, I happened to think of something. Would it too terribly difficult to throw some support struts in on individual pieces. The parts that concerned me were the chin, the visor area(both pieces), and the two parts that go around the back of the neck. I just thought it would be useful for my thoughts on how I was going to build it, and perhaps for others as well.

To all of those waiting for an unfold, please just be patient with me. I'm taking my time with this so that everything will be arranged accordingly.
