Hughs Odst Build

Good call, I originally had supports for those wider parts on my original build. But when I started putting the parts together I realized I didn't need them and they were just getting in the way of where my hands needed to be :)

I can add them in there, no problem. But for anyone that starts building it you'll know what I'm talking about. Remember to use butterfly clips to assemble the model first then remove and glue one at a time.

Just happened across this thread now, so yeah I'm late to the game.

The model is fantastic, can't wait for the torso model to be available... looking at the other torsos available, none of them are the right proportions. If I knew what programs to model with then I'd do it myself. But until then, I'll have to wait for these.

Just suggestion, for the core torso piece, would it not be best to leave the back pads and shoulder straps seperate considering that on the WETA model the shoulder straps are actually just securing straps much like you'd find on a holster etc. And also, it'd be cool if the core torso piece had a back and front piece that you would essentially clip together for ease of putting on. Considering that platemail armour (back in medieval times) Would have a breastplate and a back plate.

Well, that's my two cents.

Shard out!

Go for it Matt, thanks :)

If you can't find it feel free to email me and I'll try to get it to you this weekend.

Internet won't be up at my new place until Saturday afternoon though.
Going to finish packing and hit the road at the end of the week so I won't be able to reply right away.

I've still got the original pdf with everything embedded. Good luck with the move buddy, and have a safe trip!! We'll talk to you when you get settled into the new place.

Hey Shard,

Thanks for the advice! In regards to your comment about leaving the shoulder pads off, my build will allow you to do that if you choose. I chose to model the shoulders as a solid part and make slits to run webbing through for straps. I feel that it would create a game accurate silhouette and add bulk more-so than backpack or LBV padding.

I should probably point out that this build is supposed to be a H3 ODST and not the WETA, but you can use whatever parts to achieve what you are going for.

The cool thing about these builds is that they aren't one solid pep build. You can build the model and assemble it in as many smaller parts as you wish. Leaving out almost any part you want. :)

The chest core will be two parts that you can piece together. For myself I will assemble the cuirass as a whole and separate each cast into two parts after the pull.

I'd like to apologize to everyone on here for not getting my work finished/released sooner, but changing careers and setting up a new place to live has slowed down progress.

Darn edit feature..............no need to apologize. But if you want help with releasing this stuff, don't hesitate to shoot stuff my way. More than willing to help you unfold and release.

Thanks for the reply, I see your reasoning. I often looked at the solid construction from the game, I saw it as a modelling thing. Would look quite cool, but I imagine would not be all that comfortable to wear haha.
So its gonna be two parts? Cool. Can't wait. Gonna hold off construction until then. Maybe do some of the parts around it.

Anyways good luck with the move and no need to apologise, you're not obliged to do any work if you don't want to :p

Chest Core Update

Finally got settled into my new place here in Atlanta and got a few things pep'd over the weekend.

This is about all I'll have time to get done until after labor day weekend.

Dang brother, that looks great!! Now refresh my memory, how many pieces are contained in that part of the build? Now that you've got it pepped, let me know if you want me to unfold another version. Looks good buddy!!

Thanks Matt.

Sorry for the crappy pics, I don't have a light in that particular room yet and had to use my flash :/ Whatever, it's not pretty anyways.
The core chest part is made up of 12 blocks. I glued most of them together and left the front half and back half separate for now.
The chest plat is three pieces, and the mid section box thing is also three blocks. Right now they're just hanging out with painters tape holding them in place.

I'm going to cast them separately, then you can drill holes in the core chest and mount the parts using bolts after you paint them. :)

I also got the shoulder done, but I cropped it out without thinking about it. It's only the Halo 3 ODST shoulder, nothing fancy. I decided to stick with that shoulder because it would be easier to add custom decals/emblems to it.

Build is looking amazing!

Love how you modeled the chest piece think it makes the odst look much more armored.
Your model is one of my favorite that I've come across.

Any chance you'll be releasing more of the build soon? I'd love to be able to use them for our film.
Also is that just paper painted white? or is a different material?
