Hi guys,
I'm having a bit of a problem with my parting shim.
I'm trying to create the parting shim for my mother mold but i cant get anything to stick on the surface of the silicone.
I tried modelling clay to make a parting shim, but it just kept falling off the mold. I also heated it up but it wont work.
So i'm wondering how i could make a parting shim that would actually "stick" to my silicone so that it wouldnt constantly fall off.
thanks.

So i'm starting up on my new mother mold this weekend,
I would like to know if i could make my mother mold using bondo... Sean mentioned about it saying that i should reinforce it with fiberglass... what did you mean by this?
Also if i make a fiberglass mold, how am i supposed to use a release agent? if i use one wont it just get mixed with the resin? Or do i need a release agent at all?
And what would be the best way to make the "parting lines", what material?
I tried modelling clay but it doesnt stick to the silicone..
Thanks!

Okay guys, so my helmets mother mold was an epic failure with plaster...
I would like to know how many parts my mold should be and how should i cut them.
I also tought i could switch the material from plaster to something else (since plaster is quite fragile).
I have seen people use fiberglass, would this work well? I also tought about bondo... i think no one has ever even considered this, do you think bondo would work?
also i already "cut out" (the cutting seam) the silicone so that you could get the helmet from inside out.
I know this was propably a stupid error... But what would be the best way to hold the silicone in place for the new mother mold Rubber bands?
Thank you in advance.
