Progress -March. 29. 2011

I'm starting this build again. I was unhappy with some aspects of the previous attempt.
I usually start over if I'm unhappy with things.
So far I''ve uploaded pics of the helmet resined with one coat on the outside.
My plan is Clay over Pep for just the helmet.

I picked a simple file to build.
This is an older File Bimmer modfied that Sharkead modified of his own file and dungbeetle's (I think. Correct me if Im wrong)
I liked the proportions as it was modeled off of the bust helmet.
It didn't take too long to build and it will serve as a good base for sculpting over.

I will strengthen the inside next and start sculpting once I can secure a good stand from the inside.
I will be documenting the whole process to give transparency to the project.

I'm exicted to be building again.
Wish me luck.

Just a small update. I pepped the thighs

(I'll build the thigh add-ons later)

Shins are next.
Dancin_fool is a busy man and is currently working on the Captain America Video Game. Which is really cool. :)

So the shins haven't been completed on his model.
I'll have to make the most out of the shin files out there already.

If the scaling turns out to be a headache. I'll just try to build one from scratch.

I finished pepping Zabana's Shin file.

This was a very time consuming part to pep
I think I need to adjust the faces and join more of them together if I ever build it again.

I had already printed it all out and figured. "ah well"

There were so many small strips.

As for the model, it's very nice.

I need to shorten the knee cap, as it's a little too long and cut out a section in the back to make it slimmer.

I can slide my foot and shin in and it fits and the hieght is perfect.
You'd think that's good but I actually want it slimmer.

Even if I have to reattatch the calf section of the shin. after getting my foot/shin through, making it a 2-piece shin.

It won't bother me. I just want it slimmer in proportion to the thigh.

(note - I'm not using those boots. It was just to hold the attatched parts up)

You'll notice the length of the knee cover is quite long.

you'll see in this pic, it needs to be slimmed out as it's quite bulky.
Will need to be modified a little before strengthening.

I have modified the Shin from the original Pepped part as from some may remember was too bulky.
It's a little slimmer now and still fits over my leg. I doubt I'll have to make it 2 part to put my leg in anymore. Which is good.
I also Pepped and strengthened the Shoe, thighs and cod piece.
Next on deck are:
Thigh addons, shoe flaps. Quick builds out of cardboard.

Thanks for the looking :)

I was just building with foam to kill time cause the weather isn't good "body filler curing weather"

I can't work on this in the garage, only in the backyard on hot days.

This foam build will be for halloween on the night out.

I did some work on the Chest. I'm in the final stages of the Left side (your right)
then I'll gradually move over to the center then the other side as I still need to do some more sanding to get the other side as sharp and then a full detailing session once all that is done.

I'll try to take some better pics outside tomorrow, if I get some more done.

Nice to see you are still working on this. The chest is starting to smooth out well.

Here's an update on the torso
got some more work on the front and back and tried them on for fun since I still had some clips installed already from when it was strengthened.

That looks really good so far man. The scaling looks spot too. Nice one man.

Wow it looks great!!! Is that paper clay your useing to layer it? Also hav you figure out how to open and close the helmet face plate? Im have trouble trying to figure it out.

Yeah man. Fits really well! I hope to maybe mold it and then paint that cast. Hopefully The color turns out well

as for updates:
I Got some work done on the Helmet and neck. Still need to do a little more refining on the details. Also need to do that on the chest section as well.
I'll take some better pics another day. Have to head out and just took these to update on what I did today. Hope you guys like how everything goes together so far.

Still far from done.

When I mentioned it, it wasn't out yet.

I have the new files already but I'm happy with the one I built. It has a better curve to it.
I'll just add whatever details which was the inital plan anyways.

Thank you.
