Jorge Project - Decreasing noob level.

Cup has enough resin in the bottom, that if you mixed a bit to much hardener, the reaction would be hot enough to melt a plastic party cup easily. Lucky for you, normally by the time the cup is hot enough to melt, the resin is hard enough that it wont run and puddle causing a huge mess.

Yeah this stuff is definately exothermic. When I picked up the cup it was extremely warm. I did go a bit nuts with the hardener the first round. First time doing a project like this, so learning the materials takes some time. Super melting cups is now something I will be more careful of haha. :)

Rondoed the inside. Need to give it more resin around the lip of the helmet entrance.

First attempt with rondo. I think it came out alright, but Ben Streeper's vid was really helpful. My mix was a bit too thick, so a bit more resin next time.

Jorge forearm pepped.

Finally rescaled the Reach forearm and Rhinoc's Jorge add on. I did NOT glue them to each other yet. I'm debating how to attach it properly. The buckles at the base of the attachment need to be bigger I think. I might build them up with bondo and sculpt them in. If I scale the attachment any bigger, it's not going to work. The straps are a set size, but I think I can mod it to make it work.

Apologies for the state of my floor. We need to do laundry bad. x.x

Nice, I think this is the first I've seen anyone who's made Rhinocs Forearm attachment.

Does it sit well on the fore arm? Haven't Thought of a way your gonna attach it yet? just One of those 'hmmmmm' moments. One of the reasons i like to pep solid one piece things :D

Holy crap batman, it ate my post. Oh well, I will give the quick recap, I don't feel like typing it all out again.

You're right Fooly, this is a 'hmm' moment. The size I have it scaled to in relation to the Reach forearm is about as big as it can go without dwarfing it entirely and looking really dumb. I will prolly create some flaps to anchor it down, then resin and spot fill the gaps.

And here's one of Jorge's shoulders. I scaled it up, it seems to be wide enough from the side and long enough. The reach upper arm will be under neath and I need to be careful that I don't get crowding with regards to the chest piece.

Looks amazing, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Chestpiece, with the "just some additions" he made

Alright, shoulder blast shield pepped. It's about as big as it can go without being unwieldy. I've got to redo the previous shoulder as it was a touch too small. But here we are, little more progress. :)

EDIT: I think that I will have to end up adding on some extra padding or the like to make the blast shield work with the chest piece. Otherwise they will keep smacking into each other when I move. I believe that it is set slightly raised from the upper arm piece, so experimentation with padding will occur down the road I'm sure. :)

Good start !
I think the first soulder piece is a little bit to small !

Greetings Phil

Yeah I agree man, the first more detailed shoulder is too small. I scaled it to what I thought would look right. It looks dinky...again. lol. All part of the learning process I suppose. :) But going to remake that possibly today if we get all the clearing out in the yard done. Gotta take a few felled trees to the landfill. x.x oy. But thankyou!

I like the idea of working on top of a fridge. That's really convenient!

Haha yes. It's actually our chest freezer, but rest assured, the fridge is just out of shot to the left, keeping beer close by for when I lose my mind folding tiny pieces of card stock for hours on end.

Ok, rescaled the right hand side shoulder piece. Think they look pretty balanced. Sorry for some of the pics being washed out. The camera is not doing well this evening. Tripods and timers good pictures do not equal. Decided to throw on the helmet too to see if it looked dwarfed. I'm thinking it's looking in proportion. See what you guys think! :)

There's more on my photo bucket, just didn't want to spam this reply with like 8 images :p

Looks nice man. By the way just in case you didn't know, the spartan bicep piece goes under the shoulder pieces. Those are just attachments. as to how one would attach them, im still thinking.

Oh yeah dude I know, but thanks. :) - I'm just starting from the top and working my way down. I've got some ideas of how I'm going to attach them. But I'll get them resined and bondoed first ;)
