Making a Halo Infinite Skewer 2021

Hey everyone! It has been a while since I posted here, my apologies. I hope you are all safe & well. Rest assured, my creative endeavors never stop. That being said, I had the pleasure of playing Halo Infinite (on my OG Xbox 1) and it was a great experience. Now comes a grand challenge: make a Skewer from scratch before the games release date. Phase01: Design & Linework
Fueled by approximately 6 hours of halo infinite big team, YouTube videos, and online images, I created a line work drawing of the Skewer. I honestly don’t have any numerical dimensions to work off of so I am just eyeballing it and scaling it to what I think is best. From bayonet tip to stock, it’ll be about 49”-50”. I’ve printed my pattern onto normal copy paper but I like to reinforce the backside with duct tape. This way, tracing the shapes onto foam will be much easier. Stay tuned!

Phase02: Test Mock Up
I don’t always take selfies but when I do, I don’t. Theres an old saying: Measure Twice, Cut Once. Basically, before you go all out with any project it’s important to have tests. Without any number references, here is what I came up with. Similar to my sniper build, I scaled my drawing to fit MY own proportions. Honestly I think it’s pretty good already. Time to move on! I printed my template onto standard sheets of copy paper and then taped all the sheets together. I then reinforced the back with water color paper so it is more rigid now

Phase03: Initial Foam & Structure
I started whipping up a shape onto EVA foam. It will change as the build progresses but this is a good base point. I’m also making my internal structure out of pex pipe. If you are not aware, pex is pretty much a smaller scale pvc pipe. Thinner, lighter, and can be hand cut more easily. Stay tuned.

Phase04: Foam Layers
It’s been a while! Rest assured I am slowly and steadily working. Continuously making mistakes, continuously learning. I think I have it figured out for the most part. Just gotta keep going now. The clock is ticking!! Stay tuned.
