Well i finished my first ever helmet build, and umm its not perfect , its not pretty , but the inportant thing is that it fits lol. heres' a link to my deviantart profile so you can see my helmet from pep to bondo. sorry that i didn't upload pics in here , am having a hard time doing so...so i decided to youst post a link!. i know that am gonna be really critized alot like really bad cause you guys are very strict in this kind of hobby and i youst want to let you know that am new and that i am trying my best even though it might not look like it. so yeah , if you want to laugh then go on lol .if you wanna say that is really bad go for it , if you want to make fun of me then do it but at least tell me look u did this wrong try doing this next time etc! ,that is the point that i want people to see my work and tell me all the wrong things i did even though it might sound and look harsh. and i am pretty proud of it cause i didnt know i could do stuff like this , youst to show people that you can inprove! and you gotta start somewhere right? another thing that i notice robogenesis hd helmet is much muchhhhhh more easier than the other hd helmets!! so thats y i fail on the back real hard and well youll see. i youst wanted to do all of this to get the hang of it and to know what am up against . so yeah next time ill do a robogenesis helmet cause it has les pieces and there bigger too , not those little things that are really hard to fold and it ends up all mushed! but anyways at least i tried. soo yeah let me know what you think 405th.

It looks alright for your first build ( I have seen some worst than this) but there is a function in pep designer that can reduce some fold lines and make it smoother to build and less bondo work.
This hobby you have to go to trial and error before you can get it right so don't give up. I am here to help.

thanks alot it really means a bunch to me! and about that function i knew there was such a thing but i couldnt find it! where can i find it?? the icon what does it look like if you can remember!! cause that would make my future build aloooooooooooot easier!

Not bad for a first try. My first piece of advice is to put in the Pep visor to complete the helmet before moving. It helps support it and give it the proper shape. Your helmet seems to have warped and become misshapen without it.

But good job on figuring out the process. You'll only get better and improve from here.

It's the 3 pencil crayon symbol under the menu bar just click on it and inside you will see "Hide edges almost flat" make sure you put the check mark in the box then you will see the number that you can decrease or increase. try it

ohhhh ok i see , the visor part now i understand. it has warped on the back most of it cause i pept it wrong cause i didnt know you could make your armor smoother and reduce fold lines like sandy1973 said! like for example your forearm the one that u used in your scaling tutorial, it only has 7 pages and am guessing thats the hd version??? maybe am wrong but my hd forearm that i build was 13 pages :S and it had alot of little annoying parts good thing it came pretty well lol but i see yours and there veeeeeeery easy and big thats what i want to learn , to be able to print armor like that very easy less pages and easy building!! cause 7 pages are a big difrence compare to 13 lol! thanks for your help!!

ok got it , what number you recomend??? some parts start to show lines simpleonesnot all that puzzle lol on 101 deg. am testing on the same helmet i did master chief hd mmm the person who did it is... i dnt know it doesnt say his or hers name it says hdmkvi_helmetpep. i have flying squirrels, robogenesis, this one and . slyfos helmets

try the smooth version of DANNIFOOD4LESS or DF4L MK VI file is the easiest file to make and the fold line should set around 156 - 161 degree. and the scale should set around 280 mm high and you need to trim the bottom ring to make it fit. You can see the one that I finished without using any bondo in my photobucket album( in my signature)

ohh ok soo i bet theres some sort of catch right? the easier the helmet is to do the less detail it would have? but the more complex the helmet the more is gonna look good? or u can youst use danni's file and then give it alot of detail so it can look like i dont know mm flying squirrels? youst for example. and by the way that odst helmet of yours , when i saw it i think i had a heart a attack... its awesome!!!!! wich one os that? rundowns file?

Did you see the green MK VI with lights? That is DF4L file it's missing a few details but you can add some details with craft foam, wood filler or bondo. and The Odst helmet I used Kirrou file ( it's the easiest file to build but need a little adjustment to fix some of the pieces. I bought the product key for pep designer so I can save.

oohhh ok yeah now i saw it!. its awesome pretty simple if u ask me. thats what am looking for easy builds not that labrynth pep lol am going to practice on the reducing folding lines cause i quite dont understand that yet so i can do it to the other helmet when i begin to do it! cause if u reduced it to much then i dnt know where to fold lol althoug the 3d image shows you but if you put to many folds then i get crazy and dont know where to start folding cause theres to many lines and not all them require folding!

like I said before the fold lines setting should be some where between 156-165 and that helmet took me 6 hours to finish (pep stage)

ok , that should do on all of the helmets? well most of them like the mark vi, odst , hayabusa. its pretty neat that trick lol it makes it easier jeez if i only knew that .____. tnhks alot , you made my life more easier lol!

While that is true, more folds somehow means more strength in the paper. If you were to simply bend a sheet of paper, it could easily buckle under the pressure. But if you were to fold a curved sheet of paper, it becomes more sturdy.

ohh another thing but first ill youst finish the helmet then ill do that for the other helmet since this one is for collection :) not to be a shamed of my work but since i knew it wasnt gonna turn out good cause it was my first try well i decided to have it as a collectible. now the foam build that is very intresting , so you print out normally on cardstcok then u trace it in the foam right? the part that i dnt get is how u fold the pieces cause foam is not the same as paper. and atleast u dnt have to resin or bondo right?? its pretty awesome, but its a double work lol when i mean double works is that yous basically have to cut the pieces 2 times. 1 out of the cardstock 2 again in the foam tracing it from the previous one that u already cut , but the resulst are priceless!

for foam build it's a lot more into it than just simply print, cut and trace. I have to build the pepakura model first just to get the shape and scale right before rearrange the pep piece to make it foam friendly then print out I didn't use all the piece that show in the file. I have to do some piece freehand.

actually, it is pretty simple. its just more than print cut and trace. idk what he means by building a pepakua model before... because its just trial and error in the most part :D (but if foam isn't always immediately available, use sandy's tip :p) and the unfolding is REALLY simple. you just need to move the main pieces together in a certain fashion and take out some indent pieces and BAM. done. XD but for your question about the folding, when you cut a piece out just take some sissors and cut an angle (slope will vary on the fold angle)across the edge then glue. but be cautious about the cuts. if you cut too much you might need to use spacers in between which loosens the connection between two pieces.
