What measurements should I take for making the altair costume? Also, in 4 months oni-con is coming up, so if there any costumes which are quick to make? And preferably cheap

I'm guessing your talking about Assassin's Creed 1. The costume is a few different parts and each part you will measure where is needed.

I understand that choosing an outfit and dedicating yourself to create it can be a bit intimidating, but once again, you have chosen to ask a question before doing any research of your own.

You stated in one of your first threads you started, "It's not necessary, as I'm aiming to cosplay as Altair (from assassin's creed) for oni-con."

With that, I did a Google search using the phrase "how to make an altair costume cheap"

The third link down I saw this: "Assassin's costume"

It goes into great detail about how to make the whole thing step-by-step, for each piece.

I didn't even check the first two links. They were YouTube videos, and even the fourth looked promising as well.

As far as "cheap" goes, that is a number you have in your head. To me, a "cheap" costume is anything less than $1000.00 For you, it may be $20. In order to have that question answered appropriately, you should really give us a bit more to work with.

Uhhhmm, sorry.... I did do abit of research. Just measured myself (semi accurately...). I'll let you know when I've made it, might not cosplay (meh, I'll make something).
EDIT: I've done the measurements, PROBLEM, I do NOT feel comfortable with purchasing the template from assassincostumes.com
Also, would I get away with NO vambraces or hidden blade? and if not, can I just go with vambraces? Aaaaand how well does foam work? I was thinking of paper mache (used it for my legend of zelda link costume, might show it later) or foam if foam is possible. The problem with paper mache is it peels and is rough on the inside if you don't smooth it.

Also, I know foam items that are slightly dulled are relatively safe, but would I look dangerous carrying around a foam sword of altair (I find the assyrian sword less appealing in a costume than Altair's sword, not to mention IT DOES make a reference in AC II as the most superior sword available). Now I know I've been going in rather headless chicken-like, but this I've got relatively covered. Gonna use the layer technique and a ref pic to make out of foamboard or something like it. Also would I get away with making the altair sword LOOK like it's sheathed? If not, can a duplicate blade be made, and just hollowed out so the sword fits in, and paint accordingly?

Soooo, in summary:
1. I need templates for altair's tunic and hood (ooor I could just get a white/grey hoodie and rip off the hood, but that's a bad idea).
2.Opinion on paper mache vambraces AND wether or not a foam vambrace would work.
3. Am I lazy to consider painting the altair sword to look sheathed?
EDIT 2:
Found some templates, they look really promising!
also, which is better short sword or sword? I like to think of bringing the short sword, it's less heavy and will take less space. Good luck on your altair costume cadet!
