I'll be the first to say excellent job! i see a lot of posts saying people have their helmet started and it's all just pep work, its great to see something so impressive.
Thanks all. I appreciate the comments. I'm all about red and black Threw in the grayish bronze as a nice contrast.
It started out as a MK VI project, but I ran into some fitting problems. The chest was way to big once I put it on so I made the reach chest instead. Once done with that, the hayabusa helm looked like a damn bobble head on it. I decided to do a mix of MK VI and Reach. Here are the hand plates that are done as well. Hope to have MK VI forearms done this weekend.
Nice Job! I had toyed with the stripe being on the sides for authenticity, but felt my color scheme clashed. I still might 'ghost' a worn dragon onto the helm. Kinda make it my own.
I got the visor in today. Will post pics soon.
nice! It's cool to be original with your armor since technically when we play with our multiplayer character's we get to customize how they look. You're just doing rl custom xD!
Though I kinda take that as a compliment, I have no plans to mold right now. My focus is finishing the set for at least Halloween. Since I have to work outside, weather is really a hindrance.
Thanks all for the compliments. I plan on adding more detail to it, stripe or so, and will post pics accordingly.
As for scaling the helm, that was my third helmet! Did a lot of measuring this time around.
It helps to have a reference at first. I had and old POS visor I could cut and put in place, sand where appropriate, cut again, yada yada.
Once I was sure I had the size right. I cut the new visor, slathered in the hot glue, and pressed it in the center. The center of the helmet is narrower ( i have small gaps, but not noticeable) which forces the side to bevel inwards. once the center hot glue is on place on bottom and top, press the side down, glue, repeat on other side.
I bought a sheet of neoprene foam (like $20 for an 8x4 sheet of 1/8 thickness). It molds to any shape and glues instantly with super or hot glue. I lined the helmet with it on the inside and was going to use it to fill in gaps, but then realized the small gaps I had, allowed decent air flow. Im going to bget more of some thicker stuff as well for other parts.
I have been done for some time.Sorry for lack of updates.
Figured I would show yall the family shot on Halloween. Forgot the damn gloves though. My hands were FREEZING!
