Woo post 500 hays looks exelent thorn. Check out my thread. Spartan e90z sorry I don't have the link saved on my kindle
Thanks Early90z.
Yes I stopped by you're build today, You're helmet looks good.
Looking crazy good!!! Loving this build man you have some top skills! Looking forward to when this bad boy is complete. Although I am sure you will keep adding to it to take it one step beyond. Saying that, are you going to make something new once this one is done? Other than weapons ofc because one man can never have a big enough arsenal.
P.s. sorry to hear about the neck man. Make sure you keep it well rested.
Thank you Drack.
I want this build to be as good as I get it first. Over the Top as you say.:cool
Then, Yes, I'm looking at a few other type builds right now. I may do a Robo Cop, but that one just might be put off till I can get some HD files for it. I'm also looking at 2 scratch builds. One of those falls under the Japanese Anime for Youmacon. Either or, I'll have to really do some research before I can start.
Lookin' snazzy!
And neck injuries are no fun
. Feel better!
Thank you kindly LilTyrant,
I'm trying to get a little of the look you have on you're with out sewing
thorn man i'm really digging the paint job. how did you get the worn look?
Thank you Early90z,
As for the paint...I can probably go on about paint all day. But to answer with the Cliff-notes version.
1.) I seal the surface with white spray paint to create a blank pallet.
2.) I hit all the edges with a silver.
3.)Then put p jelly "Vasilean" on the spot were I want damage to be.
4.) Spray my base color over that, and let dry.
5)From there clean off P Jelly and de-grease. This gives me a base to start ageing every thing.
6.)From there I use a sponge and 50/50 black wash to create shadow and change how light hit the surface.
7.)Then I use a stiff brush with black paint around the edges of the the silver to define them more. This will also build up a few layers of paint to give it that chip'd/scratched look.
8.)From there I hit the silver with a 50/50 white to dull the surface and give high-lite's. This will change how light reflects off the surface as well.
9.) Then I give every thing a coat of Mat finish clear coat. This seals the paint.
10.) Now I add a little high-lite's and shadow's to define the look no mater what the light is. I just pat on a 50/50 mix, white and/or black wash.
11.) finely I hit everything with 4-5 coats of Mat clear coat to protect it.
Side note:
a.) Base coat is you're very first coat of paint. This is for the most part Black or White depending on how you want you're object to reflect light.
b.) Base color is you're primary color that you build every other color over.
c.) Wash is where you mix a thinner (in this case water) to the paint to make it translucent. This allows you to gradually build up paint to shadow something. You don't need a wash for filling in line work but most people will use a 20/80 black wash because it flows better and wipes off easier.
d.)The reason for the black wash on the silver it to darken it the same way Aluminium oxidizes. And the white wash on the silver it to darken it the same way Titanium oxidizes. Giving it an That aged look. You can do the same with using a 50/50 silver wash to make something look like the paint was rubbed off.
e.)The reason for Mat clear coat is that it is larger drops in the way it sprays, Making it cloudy. This will make it reflect light differently and make it absorb most of the above said light.:cool
I hope this helps you. But I will say that 4 years of art in just a few written lines is hard to give you everything.
the ab section looks good man! and sorry to hear about the neck, that really is a bummer, hopefully you get well soon and can fully get back to it
Thank you Cinderblock.
