All right I have a Update on the shines today. I'm going to start with saying THANK YOU to all the masters out there. Yes that would be the modelers and the unfolder's. And then I will have to ask if any one recognizes any one of the parts pls. let me know there were no name on the files. Then of course I have to say that I used 5 different file plus 3 parts that I made my self to do the shines. The curved front also give allot more toe room so my foot fits into the part. So without further ado here's the pics of the pep.

I will be hardening this part with smoothcast 321 this coming weekend and starting on the floating knee.

Great to see some progress! Shins looks great; I assume you tried them on and they fit well now? It's definitely nice to have them slip on without having to separate them somehow.

Thanks Spitfire, and yes I tried them on. There a little tight, but slide on nicely. You're build is coming along Great. It make for good reading with my morning cup of Java. And it gives me some idea on how to plan my later stages of my build.

I will post pic's of shines and knees with in the next day. I went with the Ruze789 knee just up'd the scale 10% to give it that look there all pep'd I just need to harden them. Also I'm cutting on the Cod piece as I'm sitting here in front of my computer, It will be roadwarrior's file. I'll update my files list a little latter this week.

In other breaking new's L3X has started on a new chest "Reach Mark V V4" so to everyone whom has planed on doing a set of armor you should check this link be for starting ---> http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/28565-Another-Reach-Mark-V-Torso

Here we go The shins and knees, plus a pic of what I have so far including 2 old school pump paint ball pistols that I'll use till I get to the weapons systems later. All parts have 4 coats of smoothcast321 and I will add at least 3 more coats to bring them up to the 1/8 - 1/4 thickness when I pick up my next gallon of smoothcast321. I will be doing the Boots and part of the Cod in foam. I will also be adding foam to the chest for the lower straps as well to the shin/knee assembly to create the floating knee look. I already have a speed hostler set up for the pistols in the works along with some of the pouches and straps.

Will be updating parts list later today. I'm working on the Cod right now and will post pic's in a week.

It's great to see more photos and progress on this! All the pieces look great, smooth and well sized. You did a wonderful job on the collar. I always enjoy updates on this build, keep up the great work.

Well, I'm joining the party kindof late, but anyway, Great work so far Thorn! Ireally like what you've done so far. Using smooth cast for hardening instead of resin and bondo looks like its a very cool idea. I think the material might be a bit out of my budget tho, since I already have the resin, bondo, and glass cloth for my build. Maybe for my Warmachine build I'll try smooth cast.

Its turning out really nice Thorn, I love using the smooth cast 321 so I know what you mean. i see your gonna be yeilding the dual PGP's gotta love it, keep up the great work

Great work thorn, looks like everything is coming along nicely.

Thank you Vshore, You're helm is a inspiration to me I've been studying parts of it so I know what to look for when I start mine. You're going Elite, I can feel it.

hey man, real quick, what is the file you used for the COD piece? and if you'd be able to send it over to me that would be amazing lol

This weeks update: Cod is hardened. And doing a test fitting of the parts.

Tell what you think so far. Any suggestion how how to make them better???

Bad news of the day the biceps and forearms seem to be a little large and I my have to re-do them later. These 4 parts also seem to be still sweating oil from the smooth cast 321 so redoing them might become a must. I'll see later this week when I look them over. In other news I have the pep to my helmet all cut out and sitting on my desk ready to be put together.

Looks awesome, I'd make a mould of your parts if its starting to ooze etc... Won't ever fix that.

I'd also maybe make the insides of the thigh armour out of high density rubber foam (so its flexible, and so it fits better).

Good stuff Thorn696! Your pieces look so smooth and cleanly done. The detail on the back looks very concise and crisp which is killer.

I agree with you that the forearms seem a bit large. I think it might be in part due to the model you have, it seems more cylindrical and less tapered as it goes to the wrist than some others I've seen. It's difficult to say about the biceps with the attachment pads covering them but it looks like they might be a bit too tall. There again if you decide to redo them I think the model you have there is a bit more blocky than the actual character's. Using a more contoured model like ForgedReclaimer's might be beneficial.

Maybe focus on the other pieces for a bit and come back to making a decision on whether to proceed with the arm pieces you have or go back and rebuild. When gauging things like this I find it helpful to put it away for a while and look upon it with fresh eyes later. I'm actually thinking my biceps are too large too...the outer wall is like two inches from my skin when the inner wall is pressed up against my skin (or perhaps the scaling is perfect and this extra space is an indication that I need to do some weight-lifting...bah).

Whichever way you go it's looking great. Keep it up! Have you begun the helmet yet? I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

The 321 will secrete for quite a while. It results from not properly mixing up the part b before adding part a. I have learned that lesson the hard way more than once. It will take a while, like weeks, but it will eventually stop secreting oils.

Looking great Thorn! Really nice to see the parts being worn. How do the arm pieces fit? If you think you can get them to work, and pad them up enough, they will look fine. Perhaps a tiny bit bulky, but that look is made for a Spartan!

Keep up the great work! :)
