This is looking AMAZING, I am so glad that a group of people are working together to bring armor from the Best Halo game ever to life.

Thanks y'all. We really appreciate the commentary. Kasper has really done a good job on this one. He has most of the lines cut, and will continue the detailing for the next little while. Just as a teaser on the boot, here is a pic of the transition pull from Kasper:

And the first flex foam pull from the mold:

Apologies for the rough pic of the flex foam, had to upload a phone pic.

Hey Brandon

Sorry for this noobish question, but

What is a transition pull? Do you need a mold? what is it made of?

Im just curoius :p

Thanks

to be honest my transition molds are just a thin cheap version of a regular mold. use the Smooth Sill 920 from smooth in only like 4 layers instead of like a half inch to an inch thick and then only a few layers of fiberglass for the cast its self i just hit hobby lobby for its cheap plastic

A transition mold is used when casting from clay. It serves as a plastic master to work from. Its easier to clean up and smooth than working with the clay. I sand it, clean up the lines, use bondo to build up areas etc. This one came in and I had to thicken it and tweak it a lot. I build up the area around the bottom, leveled it out (took a ton of sanding! Thank goodness for a palm sander! I then cut a cardboard template of the bottom, glued it on then slushed in the bottom, so it was completely sealed and had a flat bottom. I then did a glove mold, so it will come as a complete boot. This way the person can trim it as desired. We want to eventually do a tread pattern that can be glued on, but that will come later. For now I found a camera, so here are some pics!!

hey guys just dropping in togive an update on things. first we have one from Ithica, hes been working hard on the new cod and here it is

he has also been working on the new m6

and lastly we have an update from Brandon on the Emile helmet

Progress is coming along slowly. I have started the other thigh. It is pepped and resined, and I have started muglassing. It is mostly mudglassed, but incessant rain has prevented any serious amount of work in my free time. I have also been working like crazy so this also cuts into work time. Also, as noted by Kasper, Noble team has added to its ranks. Ithica and Lovebug have both been added to the team. Ithica obviously is working on the cod, and will also be doing the shoulders. I will be doing the molds on those parts as well, as Ithica will be going out on deployment, which would make it difficult to get any casts from him.

Been a while since we did any updating. I finished getting the thigh mudglassed, and started on the bondo work. I would say I am about 1/4 way through the bondo, so that shouldn't take too much longer. I am also plugging away at the Emile helm, it is mostly smoothed, starting to work on the last minute details. Sadly I don't have a camera or I would take pics. Updates from other team members, Kasper has embarked on a serious rework of the shins and Ithica is currently working mid cod, he still has the south end of the north going spartan to complete, and will be working on the shoulders once that project has been completed. Most of the molding will occur while I am down at Ithicas from the 26-29th, and when I return to Utah on the 30th. Its a bit tight schedule wise, but its going to happen!!!!

Brandon,

This is for you...

I'm still lacking the little details and weathering but you get the idea. :)

Stay safe bro,

Tim.

P,S, Drop me a line when you can, we need to talk armor. :)

Hey Tim bro, that's one beautiful piece of work...as always! :)

Brandon, really really nice work on all the parts - I'm in love with that bucket pull - sharp and clean! I'll be watching this thread with lots of interest.

Well, I guess it's time for an update. I know it has been forever since I have updated, but I am trying to convert some video from mov to wmv to post the work ithica and I did just before dcon. So once I can get that done y'all will get to see the completed biceps and some other goodies. Since dcon I haven't worked on any new parts, work kept me busy. Now that deep winter has reached the great white north I have a little more time on my hands and was able to do some pep work getting ready to make some more progress towered completing the whole suit. So I pepped l3x's new torso, and had some time to kill so I pepped his Carter shoulders, modifying the smaller of the two somewhat.

The torso was a little flimsier than I prefer to work with, so I built some of my own reinforcement and used cardboard to reinforce the areas that need to remain flat. I will have to wait for some smoothcast 321 to come in so I can resin the parts. I will be working in my shed so I don't want to deal with the mess of polyester resin.

Thanks sisko. I'm glad to be back at the project. It feels good to be making progress on this whole thing again. I've got lots of plans for the next little while.
