Noble Team: A Reach Collaboration Wip

Alright, I am still waiting to be able to get my hands on some 321 so in the meantime the pepping continues. I updated my other reach wip with the forearms a while ago but never posted anything here, so I will include some pics. I also pepped out the Carter helmet, the a1td final, and will post it here since it is not a noble 6 item. I started pepping the helmet yesterday afternoon, I would say the pep took something like 20 hours.

The two forearms, will be doing both sizes so there will be variety in what we have to offer

I am happy with how the helmet turned out. The neck hole needs to be trimmed, but there wasn't really any warping and the size is pretty good. It is built at a height of 28cm the default size for te file. It went together pretty well. There were some tough areas, lots of little folds, but I didn't really have to use any cardboard to keep things flat. Enjoy!

everything is looking awesome so far brandon, ill have a few updates by the end of next week as well, im finally getting a lap top so i can post pics, ive got a ton of things going at the moment to show

I look forward to seeing the updates! I still plan on finishing the Emile bucket and visor once things warm up here. I have all of the stuff to do it now. In other updates I picked up some smoothcast 321 while in the city yesterday and will be able to continue working on parts. Also, we have added another weapons specialist to the team, you have all seen his work, and I'm sure you are as awed by it as I am. Let ke just say the pics don't do it justice! So, welcome to tactonyx!!!

Edit: @spartan d-211: That was rather rude. I have my reasons for choosing this particular file. Not the way to post sir. Needless to say I am not impressed at all.

very awesome cant wait, if you think the emile is alittle small im repeping one with better details and larger the one you have is at 285 i think and this one is at 300. and on another note

Spartan_D211; try not to be so rude i get it your a newbie but i have no respect for those who demand things like that, grow up some here on the site and at home before commenting on some one elses work

Brandon, looking good, as always. Looking forward to the progress update. Thanks for sharing. ;)

Likewise, Brandon comes out with some of the best Spartan work around, if you have nothing good/helpful to contribute, S2 and chill.

Hoooly Crap that is some of the most beautiful pep work I have ever seen *oogly eyes*

I am quite impressed and looking forward to seeing how this project turns out.

Dave and Tim, thanks for the compliments. And Dave I am so quoting that in my sig! Also, picked up some nsp clay today for a couple of interesting surprise side projects, I bought it in soft and medium. So I have all the materials I need to keep me going. Now I'm judging waiting on 2 gallon kits of silicon, a 5 gallon kit of resin and a gallon kit of flexfoamit17. Can you tell I have some interesting thins planned for the near future???

And I'm sure you won't disappoint. The pep work so far is great!! The helmet looks incredibly symmetrical, great work buddy.

Thanks Brandon, glad to be aboard. Don't know why, but I had a hard time locating this thread.
Now that I found it, your guy's stuff looks great. Especially those boots. It's a shame I'm a size 11.
I'll be posting some of my Reach WIP's here of the MG460, the Spartan Laser and maybe, just maybe, the M45. Though probably won't see any of those here for a while.
All the stuff here in this thread looks fantastic, I don't know why ANYONE would be complaining about it.
Glad to be on the team and looking forward to working with you guy's

Ammo, anyone?

Tactonyx, glad to have you on board. Well I figured I would post up some more updates. I finished pepping out the shins, I used the lganderson file because I felt that it was the closest. It may lack some detail but the curves are much closer are overall it needs the least work. The first time I did it I used the default size of 310 mm, but it was too small. I tried it at 380 and it was slightly too large so the final at 365 works very well. The top opening is about 4 1/2 inched wide and the bottom about 4. Once again I used cardboard for brace and support I am really quite happy with how it turned out.

Will probably start to resin this afternoon. I look forward to making some more progress in the near future.

Update time. Resined the parts with 321. It still kicks fast, so once it starts to thicken just pour it inside your part and slush it around, that way none goes to waste, and you don't make the outside rough and have to sand it. Using small batches is also important. I might try 322 in the future, it gives you 15-20 minutes of working time before it starts to kick. I will be hardening the inside of the parts tomorrow. I used tint and metal powder in varying amounts between batches so I could see coverage and layers. So progress continues.

I will post pics of the chest tomorrow. It is curing right now and I want to let it finish.

dam, you work fast, though i would have a few bigger pieces of paper to rest the parts on, especialy on that lovely table.
its odd, what sort of resin do you use, because it appears to be grey, wheras most resin is a more orange colour?

I didn't do the resin on the table, I was in our utility room in the basement. I used smoothcast 321 with varying amounts of so strong tint and nickel-silver powder so that I could differentiate between layers and ensure proper coverage.

@0235, that is part of the reason. Smooth cast also produces a sort of patina as it cures.

Also, time for an update. I finished up hardening the chest, shins and forearms. The chest took a ton of plastic. I also hit them up with some primer. You can see there were a few runs in the resin on the chest, but that is really an easy fix.

I am also happy to report that one of the long lost team members, forged reclaimer, after a leave of absence has returned and is back at it. You will see his work again here shortly! Glad to have you back sir!

Hey Brandon, I just wanted to point out something a few pages ago. The new Carter shoulders you recently pepped were not L3X's as you mentioned, but mine. They look great by the way. I should go back and modify the right attachment, but Ruze has put one out that looks great.

I've got to say, this is all looking very nice. I look forward to seeing it in completion.

<Edit: Wow, five days later and no other posts in this thread. I'm beginning to think that I am a thread killer.>

well guys its time i did an update with pics here, i don't have as much done as i would like but here is a couple things, first is the pilot helmet then is one half of the sword, i feel that there is not sense in doing both because i can vacuum this one enough to make both sides. Also is the elusive Ace high Jorge chain gun. i hope you guys like wats done so far.

Well kasper, glad to see you back! The pros look great! Which one will you be working on first? And what was the scale on the pilot helm?

Well the helmet will most likly be the first finished it was scaled at 300mm, im also working on the new emile as well as i type this. the chain gun i wanna finish so bad, what is no pisured is the 3 rocket launchers im working on all will be scatch built with some pep work. the barrels will al be made from cardboard tubes im getting from work the only part that will come from pep is the square sides im going to try and do this to where i can show people what im doing so they can also do this with ease. im also painting a set of smicks reach m6gs as well as building the gungir helmet at 300mm, im also working on a couple things that are not halo like the Spider-man Noir suit from the comics and shattered dreams game, the suit will be scratch built by me and my wife, so i have alot on my plate but i hope to have most done by dragoncon this year
