regarding the leg and shin armor parts, i would highly suggest using the spawn mcfarlane models as they are the closest you can get to the replica ingame, and they show some great detail, just my two cents, and one great big thanks to everyone that worked on this...i know it made alot of ppl happy lol

ODST figure

yup no problem, its really amazing, because i looked at the model not to long ago and noticed a very slight camo on the thighs and gauntlets, which i hadnt really noticed before, which is y ill be using the model for when i paint up my armor

It is a superb reference for the in-game model, but the game model and the WETA version are slightly different...
the game model is a good starting point for shapes, but it's got to be tweaked a bit to match the live-action one.

You pulled so much detail out of those screen grabs ya did of the ODST's Ruze. That's soooooooooooooo nuts!! Though yesh, the game versions are awesome, I was more keen to the Weta version :)

i started comparing the Action figure model to the weta and it seems pretty much the same a few tweaks of angles maybe be out of shape but it looks almost like it

you have to admit the shoulders match, along with the gauntlets, chest pouches, it basically looks like the real deal

only thing i noticed different with the figure and the weta armor is, weta has two sets of straps on each side of the shin armor, the model only has one, other than that looks good for a detail basis to use for the pep files

The shins ARE coming I swear, I apologise for the wait everyone, hopefully tomorrow :) massive ups to Ruze for the images.

they don't look like much atm, but they will soon, the model isn't very complicated and doesn't need to be, here's proof I do things other than sculpt helmets all day. Once this is done, it'll be fired off to belakor for the unfold.

Lookin very cool so far, NZ!
And I'm sure the wait hasn't been killing anyone, there are a whole lot of parts to build in SKG's model.

I can already see the little inside and outside detail there will be easier to scratch build, not pep...

Truth be told when it comes to detail, I have a fairly low opinion of pepakura. Its really only useful for proportion, and a limited amount of symmetry. That's just me though. I find other methods easier and faster.

I agree very much. I liked pep a lot, but after I started doing the drawings I saw how easy it would be to translate them to matboard. Whenever I get back to builds (long ways off now) I'll definitely go for as low def as I can with pep and detail after.

Nice, and I'm sure that you'll be done long before I'm ready for the shins. My build speed is just above glacial. ;)

I kind of like how these files are leaving the details as add-on options, makes the pep build much easier and faster (faster = win).

Ohhhhhhh looking good so far NZ :) You do great work! And no worries :D Your helmet progress(s) are nice to watch!!

And I concur, granted I just released a medium definition thigh, I tend to make a bigger mess when there's a lot of noodley details right off the bat (with exception to FS's Torso and Helmets, I think I needed help with some of the details).

That's why I also didn't go ape-poop with the ODST detailing, I felt it's be MUCH easier for the uber details to be added in post pep. And for what Loess said, just to make the builds faster and easier for people :)

Well, there is a toe-cap type rounded plate that sits over the front half of the boot.
Seems to be attached to the shin with a flat piece of thin plastic or rubber... something flexible.
NZ had them in his first draft of the shin armor, I think.
