Odst Weta Landfall Ver. Pep Armor By Skg & Crew

Don't forget these are modeled after the Weta armor, not the game model or Mcfarlane figures. They have to be functional and safe for a real person to move. Game models and figures get away with more ;)

yeah would suck to have the exact look alike pieces but be only able to move really slowly, but the group that worked on this did a superb job in making it a fit and safe...just got to be careful with the kneepads as those look like it could chaf, as for the shins...to me it looks like you might need to increase the size of them, when ever you get them printed so they go over the boots that you are wearing, and a simple forward toe cap will be able to protect you foot while on the go...im over excited and filled with anticipation to finish this armor

Yeah Chaffing stinks XD Maybe even wearing these over some kind of tall sock and then tucking the pants over the sock and fitting them inside the leg armor can spare the chaffage :) It sounds ok in theory XD

Hey, I just downloaded these files. OUTSTANDING work SKG! :) And to all involved in the development and release of this, Well done!

I just love how you guys use 3D software and Pepakura here!

Are the shins the only things left? or are there ODST boots?

I'll do the shins, and knee caps in one file, I can do the toe caps, but really....they're toe caps guys....do you really need pep for that?..... really?

NZ - not to be an ass, BUT, you know how some can be around here. I feel toe caps would be going overboard.

On another note, thanks to all the modelers here (not just this thread). You all have made my armor (that is going nowhere right now) so much easier! Keep up the excellent work.

Just get a pair of old Jungle boots, there black, and they fit nicely with futuristic armor :D
anyway, i think my printer is retahded, it cut out half the pieces on the end, so now i have to eyeball it when im cutting, and if anyone has had that happen, without the numbers i lose all hope.
But, its all not bad news. Vector print is actually more visible than BMP printing.

oh, congrats on your mod-ship SKG!

i have to finish this fight against my printer now, with a hacksaw and a pair of needlenose pliers.

140000 hits? Jeez, i knew people wanted the ODST suit, but it seems that this is getting recognized throughout the tubes now!

EDIT: This is the thread with the most hits on the forum....FS's thread reached about 50K....you took a shotgun and blew it out of the water XD

First off, thanks to everyone who worked on these models. They all look awesome and I'm looking forward to getting them built.

Second, I have a couple of questions:

I downloaded and started building the letter sized armor and accessory packs which were unfolded by Belakor. I'm wondering if the thigh pieces are possibly mislabeled? I built the left thigh, and it looks like it belongs on the right leg. In reference pics, it looks like the raised section is directly on the side of the leg and the piece wraps pretty much around the entire front; on the actual built piece, it either wraps behind the back or the raised section looks too far forward to me. If anybody else has built the thighs and can clear this up for me, it would be much appreciated.

My second question is about the Metal Clip piece included in the Chest Packs folder of Belakor's RAR file. Where does this piece live, and do I need multiples of it (I'm assuming I'll have to reverse the pattern for the second piece if that is the case)?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't had a chance to look at Belakor's unfold (since I unfolded a separate set), much less build them, but give me a few minutes.

EDIT: The 3D image for both left and right thigh plate are identical (both used the left thigh image). However, the pattern for the right thigh has been flipped over so it should give you the correct build. Have you tried building the right thigh plate?

They're above the chest and back pads and you're going to need at least four of them. I'm probably going to go for a hybrid set-up, i.e., part pep and part scratchbuild. Failing that, I might just use the clips, along with webbings, that you can get from an army surplus store

I haven't built the right thigh yet; it's next on my agenda. I did notice that the 3D images for the right and left were identical, which threw me for a loop for a few moments until I realized that flipping the pattern doesn't flip the model. The issue I'm having though is that the left thigh (that is the finished product, not the 3D image) looks like the right thigh does in the reference pictures. Ultimately I guess it doesn't matter because I can just switch them to whatever I think looks right when I'm finished, but I was just wondering others' thoughts on this.

And thanks for the quick reply. I did notice the clips on the back after I posted but didn't see the ones on the front. Thanks again!

You're both welcome.

You weren't around when I saw the question, SKG, so I took the liberty of answering it since I'm familiar with the pepakura aspect of the project.

off-topic: SKG, I don't recognize the mecha in your new avatar. Where is it from?

yeah hahaha, getting lunch and looking busy at work, ya haaaar! And yesh you are one of the hands of Goodness on zee project :)

Oh, it's "Screaming Mantis" from Metal Gear Solid 4. She's a part of the Beauty and Beast Unit, which is a team of Psychotic killer super soliders that are pretty :D Too cool of a design to me to not make my avatar :D

Wow, that is one beastly unit indeed! I never got into the MGS series (controls were too involved for me at the time) so they're all unknown to me. :(

Well if ya ever have time ya should give it another crack. I was bumbling around like a doof when I first played MGS1-4, but after 30 minutes you should be able to get used to it.

Thanks again for your help :D

I'm still pretty new to scaling ( i usually have some1 else do it for me lol) but just curious where do i go to adjust the scale (I know how to adjust just need to know where).
