Has anyone thought about not scaling and just making a full size MC for display hmm?
actually yes Im only 5'10"
and I figured since that the armor was really big that if I get it done and I cant make it fit me, Ill make a manakin or something to display it to my friends til I can show it off on me.

this doesnt make sense to me, if my helmet is too small at 30.324, and 31.whatever inches tall, how is scaling it down going to help? because when you lower the scale the height goes down.

helmet scaling i got, but for those of us who are not in the physical shape of MC, how would i proportion it properly so im not making 19 chest plates untill it fits properly. Im 6' and about 240lbs, waist is 38-40 (varies) Thanks!

If you got the helmet down... You can use the same scale as the helmet for the chest... The other pieces may need a bit of an adjustment though...

any idea on how to scale the other pieces?

Use a smaller scale... Try 20 or a 22 for the helmet... Of course the bottom or opening will need to be trimmed as it it for most peoples helmets...

thank god im 5'11".. LOL. you can do the mesurments to scale the way stated here (its easier), i used to calculate down to the centemeter height i needed, and once i got a scale from that i would use it on the rest of my parts.

OK, did a little playing with Excel
I generated cm by multiplying the height by 2.5
the Base Scale Multiplier is multiplied by by the scale found in the [2DPatternWindow->Scale Up/Down Development By Specifying Value...]
If the value already in that box is 30.342, you can use the value in the last column
These are only starter values, some parts may need to be scaled differently to make them fit right. You might also want to go two sizes up, if you use your exact height, the armor will be your height (from base of boots to top of helmet and won't fit around you)

Don't apply these to weapons; in general, weapons have a set size. One exception, you want to make your child look like he really is the master chief you can try using the Base Scale Multiplier to do so, but you're going to have to get the weapons to full scale first (or find some pdos that have already been fixed)

Why did I stop at 12 inches (30cm)?
Hey, why not make a set for your 1ft GI Joe (or just make a desk display)
(some of those folds are going to be d@|V|3|) hard to make)

this makes me wonder how big mc is. God a this scale I feel very sorry for hunters. Mc has got to be like 9 feet tall. And with super human strength that would really hurt.

How about compiling a list with inputs from everyone here of what scales correspond to common body measurements (like the measurements illustrated in most clothing mail order catalogs). Maybe expand upons Cha*man's excel list... something like X scale fits Y chest measurement or A scale fits B head circumference. This could save a lot of trial and error armor printouts and maybe even a few trees.

I am using the pepakura paper armor to make halloween Master Chiefs for my three youngest boys, ages 4-10. I used the 23.638 scale calculated from 67" height (the height of my 14 yr old) to build my first helmet and it barely fits my 4 yr old's 19.5" head circumference, and that is assuming no room for padding.

Thanks

<END FIRST POST>

If I had some final numbers
I need these as a set
Height of person, scaling actually used for the different parts, regular clothing sizes.

maybe organize the data per piece of armor.

HELMET(Measure around the largest part of the head, with tape above brow)
scale----------measurement (inches)
30......................AA
.........................
.........................
.........................
.........................
20......................XX

CHEST(Measure just under arms and across shoulder blades holding tape firm and level)
scale----------measurement (inches)
30......................AA
.........................
.........................
.........................
.........................
20......................XX

WAIST; UPPER ARM; FOREARM; THIGH; CALF; SHOE

I just don't see that height is a valuable data point at this level, because our body parts are not in the same proportions as the MC. One might have arms like AR-NALD but thighs like a "girlie man". I would think UNSC Quartermasters would do the same when fitting Spartan IIs for their issued MJOLNIR armor.

Thanks for everyones hard work

PS maybe we can even make use of all the failed scale attempts by inputing their scales and estimated body measurements that would fit them. Example "My first helmet using scale XX didn't fit me but it did fit my little bro and his head is YY inches"

I was wondering if the scaling is going to effect size of fitting my head into the helmet cause its already to small (Taking it the helmet off is pretty hard for me even though I never scaled it, so I was hoping it doesn't effect it att all or Im gonna have a problem.

Most likely you haven't cut off the neck. (or are actually bigger than a spartan)

That would probably help you out a lot.

Ultimate FAQ sticky man.

I'll work on this some tomorrow (9-12), but I'm going to be busy so I may not get enough done to make a good post

Hey, cool. I'm 5'4" as well.

Edit:

Hey, I can't save pepakura so will I have to scale and immediately print it without saving or what?
