Its time for you to go my love. I will miss you :(

Blackula is a great guy to pass the helmet to for molding purposes... :D

@BLACKULA727: Can't wait for you to do wonders with this helmet!!! :3

looking over this build just makes me inspired. I love your armor. It was my original inspiration for foam armor and I often reference your work to help with my own. I would truly like to say thank you for sharing with the forum.

I can't wait to see the helmet molded. I'd love to get my hands on a cast. :)

i second the request to know what thickness of plastic you used

and to blackula............."jealous stare" you best hope everything goes well!!!!!!.....jk dude cant wait to see it when its done!!

I really liked your work, it's inspires me to move forward in my work! I actualy have a question- which clear plastick thickness did you used to vacuum form the visor, I'll be very pleased to here it from you! :)

I used Polyester ( PETG ) plastic. The thickness I used was 1/16", although I feel like I could of went thicker. I will try 5/64'' next. This is where I get it from. Lucky for me There is a location in Los Angeles I can pick them up from. http://www.mcmaster.com/#plastics/=dv78zo

Lol..to funny Nick Nack. You are truely a character. And I promise to reunite you with a helmet. Though it will never replace the one that got away, it will hopefully allow you to remember the many memorys you shared with your original. Be good my man!

Hey Nick! I just sat down and read this ENTIRE thread. I made a huge list of all the stuff you used and I'm taking my armor-making style in a whole new direction. After all of this I have a few question:

1. After you cut out the foam pieces from the pep files, do you still keep the tabs and fold them to glue all the pieces together like you would with paper?

2. How many layers of Bondo did you put onto your helmet?

3. How did you fasten your visor to your helmet?

4. How much will you charge for your Mark V helmet unpainted?

You have been a massive inspiration to me and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your thread. Keep up the FANTASTIC work and congratulations on the new team member! :)

Here are some Great video's by 405th's own BenStreeper about foam armoring

His videos helped me when I just started out with foam.

1. There no need for the tabs when your foam building. Just remember if the piece your gluing is folded up or down.

2. That is something you'll find out on you own, and it also depends on what your doing. I love putting clumps of bondo on what ever im do. Its just going to be sanded down any way. But start out little by little. Very little. You wouldn't want your bondo to get hard in mid application. Waste of money right.

3. We all have different methods. I just hot glue lol.

4. A raw cast will be $100. plus $20 shipping

It makes me feel good knowing that I inspire people. Thank You

Heres what Im doing to it. Not changing much, just correcting a symmetry issue in the back and filling some small holes & finally, smoothing out the visor form a tad more.

This is not wet paint, just been buffed like a crazy smoothing maniac..lol. I want to make sure I can pull a nice smooth visor off of it.

Also, tightened this line up a little, needs to be sanded a bit more and to break out the needle files

All in all, not much more to do other than some clean up sanding, shoot in with primer & start the molding process.

Well, let me know if it looks like its being taken care of.

Thanks guy!

Wow Dude I love your goodbye story that was cool...And I think your burnt orange looking paintjob is awsome. I looks really good, keep it up...

Good lord man, that is some serious buffing you did there. Fantastic work my man. You and Nick Nack sure seem to make a good team. Looking forward to more.

I have a question for you or anyone with experience. I'm guessing you used the VHT nite-shade to darken your visor so how well does it cover your face, like can people see the face at all even when they stand up close and how clear is your own vision? if so how many coats did you apply to the plastic for that to be achieved. And finally I did buy a tinted visor but the tint isn't as dark as i wanted it to be and people can make the rough outline of my eyes and face through it. so I was wondering if its possible to use the nite shade on a tinted visor.

Thanks my man! I'm trying..lol. Yeah, Nick Nack has become my west coast prop oracle lately. Been bouncing ideas off each other. He's full of them.

Thanks again for the kind compliment
