i got something called paster of paris
it actualy just like bondo
insted of buying bondo for what it cost
i got this fo 5 bucks

its thick and has some kind of hardener in it b/c its warm and the back said it will get harm of chemical reactions
i used it on my crappy ODST hlm
Plus i did a bad job
PLz tell me if it is not a good idea

I don't think it has hardener; it should harden after being mixed with water.

Plaster's for walls, not helmets. I used it on my H2 helm, and I haven't been able to do anything with it from it being too heavy and hard to detail with. If you do end up using it, use it in very thin layers; and it's possible to chip the layers so be careful if you do that. Simply put, I don't think plaster's a replacement for bondo. Bondo isn't MUCH more expensive, from what I remember.

Bad idea. Plaster is for filling in wall cracks, not for strengthening armor. Bondo is much stronger, and bondo is only like 10-15 dollars a gallon.

Plaster of paris is the weakest and cheapest plaster there is, it works as a mold, but not for the main part of strengthening armor.

The heat is generated by a chemical reaction, as the water mixes with the calcium sulfate, it'll kick out both calcium and sulfur dioxide. However, it is an exothermic reaction, just not of any major significance.
The big problem you'll face with plaster is twofold - the weight, which has already been mentioned, and the fact that you drop it once, and it'll likely chip off, or break off. Good idea, but not really designed for this kind of application. Bondo's gonna work better, as it's designed to take more abuse.

1. It is for walls, but in a much larger batch that can be handy for other uses like molding and crafts

2. armor making is a craft of it's own, but when you go to put the piece on and use it, it wont hold up, because it's made of plaster

3. It doesnt have any hardener, the water just joins the plaster together and when the water evaporates, it leaves the plaster as 1 solid piece. This is a basic term, but Humungotron already explained the details, so no need for a repeat.

4. bondo can sand too, but it is much harder because it is a much tougher and smarter choice to use.

if i could make a recomendation, try spraying the plaster helmet with spray-on Plasti-Dip, wich i acctually used after bondo/fiberglass, and it added a lot of reenforcement, and it would hold the chalky plaster together.
