my question is regarding the overlapping of spraypaint. i bought 2 cans of spray paint (olive primer and flat black) and tested them out on a piece of foam board. i sprayed the olive colored primer first, then the black, but when i tried to smear the black off with a white towel rag, it seemed to have stuck onto the primer. my concern is when it comes to spraying my project (halo armor resined) that the black wont smear off... any suggestions or tips? what kind of spraypaint is best for this technique? will the paint smear on resin easier than foam board? :unsure

it was STUCK to the primer. i think the layers go like this. primer, armor color (none primer). black wash. paint is supposed to stick to primer so if you put the black wash on primer your going to have a tough time removing it. you need a layer of straight paint over the primer.

this, and for blackwashing I always used black automotive primer, and not straight paint. You need to find olive colored paint to go over your olive colored primer THEN blackwash it.

I would recommend spray painting the primer and base color, then buy one bottle of black paint and one bottle of silver paint in the craft section of Wal-Mart and a Medium sized paint brush. Make sure the paint is water based.

Washing black is done by mixing 2 parts paint and 1 part water to create a running black mixture. Spread this all over the piece and let sit for a few minutes. You want the black to seep into the cracks. Then wipe off all the High Areas exposing the base color again. Let this dry over night and then Dry brush Silver over the piece.

Dry Brushing is done by dipping the same medium brush in the paint and wiping all the paint off with a towel. There will still be a small amount of paint on the brush and then you brush is over the high areas of the piece it will leave a fine layer of paint giving a wore look.

Hope that helps,
