I'm fairly certain Jun is the Spartan who gets killed defending Halsey as she escapes Reach.
Guys, Cortana was created by Halsey through the standard method Smart AI are created: she got a brain, synthesized its neuron-synapse connections, and sparked a program that creates the AI in that matrix. (It's all explained somewhere) Only difference was she cloned her own brain instead of using that of some deceased person. Several of the cloned brains failed to take. Cortana was one of like 3 that didn't break down. She's just a human-created Smart AI. She's limited to a good 7 years, with normal data intake. Given that she absorbed so much Forerunner and Covenant data, her life has probably been shortened (read First Strike. She comments on it) because of the higher data flow through her processor matrix.
Anyway, my feeling is Linda is the frozen Spartan, being as she's frozen from the get-go. Why's she frozen instead of in med-bay? She's so fatally wounded, they'd need more time and equipment than they have to keep her from dying if they tried to save her. So, they put her on ice to prevent her from getting any worse.
What was said about Linda kinda makes sense though, wasn't Chief supposed to be blowing up a important database or something around that time?
Yea, but we all saw how canon Fall of Reach ended up being
And she my have used the same method, but we don't know if Forerunner tech was involved in someway. They were in a room full of Forerunner knowledge that she had just uploaded to Cortana when you arrive to pick her up. I don't think it is a very far stretch to theorize that Halsey could have used some of the knowledge she had just unlocked access to in the creation of Cortana.

^ Sam died earlier on. It was Fred. I have to get reminded to of things. Don't worry.
I have a theory that for whatever reason "Bungie" could not put MC in this game(because of 343). So I do believe it's Linda because it makes more sense, however all the 12yr noobs will THINK its MC ..so not a bad thing.
EDIT: ****...now i don't think it was Fred...arg. anyone?
I now completely 100% believe that Kat died due to S.A.F.(Situational Awareness fail).
Kat failed to activate her shields, thous the needle round was able to penetrate the titianium alloy of the helet and undersuit nano-fibers and kill her.

She didn't forgot to activate her shields, but it was probably still down from nuclear EMP... I know MJOLNIR armor is designed to keep running under fire of an EMP, but that is only true for the armor, not the shielding.
and yes, the needle round is able to do that, just think of all the headshots you make with it in matchmaking. and besides, they still don't know what needles are made of.
carter giving his life in that pelican was awesome, six and emile just wouldn't have made it if he haden't. if i found six's helmet, i don't know. guess halsey was wrong when she said, " you body, your armor, everything burned and turned to glass " his helmet wasn't burned or turned to glass. by they way, what kind of ship was in the background when halsey was talking? it looked like a halcyon cruiser but also looked as if it could have been a forerunner ship of some sort. still not sure what kind of ship that was.I agree, the ending on Lone wolf made me sad that Noble 6/I died. At least He/she went out fighting.
I do however have to say I really didn't care for Kat. Not trying to be mean, but her attitude was a bit off putting. And her death wasn't glorious either. I'm a bit confused though, I know the whole debate about why Kat didn't have her shields on. {She turned them off, EMP,etc.} But how could a needle penetrate a helmet? I mean material and technological wise I would think the helmet could at LEAST take one head shot without failing.
Anyhow, I'd have to say Kat was the only character I didn't like. Like I said before her death really wasn't epic either. One shot and she dropped like a fly. Jorge sacrificed himself so Noble 6 wouldn't have to and he died thinking he saved Reach. Jun is technically unknown. Emile died helping you and Keys take Cortana aboard the Pillar of Autumn and he managed to jab his blade into the Elite's neck. And Carter went kamikaze on the Scarab. Then Noble 6 died taking out as many elites as he could.
My next question is what would you do if you found Noble 6's helmet in the field?
