Thanks red and magic!

Progress slowed for a bit due to the holidays but ill get back to work soon! Small update though, i rondoed the inside of the helmet :) I'll post pics tomorrow!

Thank you so much Rino for sharing the template/build process that you used. I have a question though, how do you fit your head through the opening after you attached the front and back halves with the shoulders? Sorry if you already answered this, I couldn't find it.

Are you planning on attending Dragoncon this year?

Keep up the awesome work!

-Hugh

Thanks sir tsaboc and chitwood!

Hugh
No problem. And I guess my head is just small enough to squeeze through. lol. Its a tight squeeze but the foam gives a little bit so I can just slip it on.
And I hadnt thought about going to dragoncon but i'll look into it!

Time for an update!

Rondoed the inside

Got some sanding done! First time using bondo and I learned that applying it as smoothly as possible will pay off later when it comes to sanding. lol. I had some rough areas but they sanded down ok and should be fine after another layer of bondo and then some spot putty.

Well I worked on the helmet a ton today. Its pretty muck complete, I just have to touch up some rough spots. I cut out the visor and also added some of the detailing. Now its time to dremel in all the lines. Anyone have any pointers on the best way to do that?

Heres where I am so far

Does anyone know someone that I could talk to about getting a vacuum formed visor? I'd make a vacuum former myself but I'll be heading back to school soon and wont have access to a shop vac.

Thanks

Resined the chest pieces

Peped the thighs using hugh's file. Changed them a little bit though. I plan on using foam on the inside part to make the layered look.

Nice. Also there was a pretty good tutorial on a visor made of two pieces of acetate sheet, no vacform required.

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragment!

Nice. Also there was a pretty good tutorial on a visor made of two pieces of acetate sheet, no vacform required.

Thanks, I do remember looking at that. I might do that for the time being, untill I can vacuum form one myself or find someone who could supply me with one :) Thanks again!

ok. im going to follow this to the letter. so far everything that you have done is similar to what i would do, such as the thighs! and that helm is so amazing. this is going to turn out relly good.

Thanks 0235! Checked out your ODST build, its looking great man!

On to an update :) I built the shin. Out of foam :) A little more complicated than the chest piece but they turned out fairly well. I used Hugh's file again as a template.

On to whats important, pictures!

Hey Rino!

Nice looking shins man... now you can feel my pain building those in foam! I still have to do the back section by the calf, but your turned out nice man! Cudos to you! Keep going!

Cujo3131

Wow man your build is coming along amazingly. The vest you made turned out great. I had been debating whether to pep it or make it out of foam for my self but seeing your make the choice easy. LOL I am going to go the foam route. Thanks for sharing how you did it.

This is a great looking build. Thank you very much for the mini tutorial on your chest piece. I'm definitely thinking about going the same route. Do you have any plans to customize your armor?

Hahah thanks Kirrou! Cant wait to see hoe yours turns out. :)

Thanks and no problem about the mini tut. I havent decided how I'm gonna design mine. Stuck between painting it like the generic ODST troopers in Halo 3 or doing something like the characters in the ODST game. Luckily I've got some time to decide! lol.
