@BLACKULA727: Goodluck. Give me a link when you make it! 8D

@Rhinoc: Don't worry Rhinoc. I'm in no rush. I have plenty of other armor pieces to work on anyway. I'm still extremely grateful that you even made me one in the first place. I look forward to building the revised model.

@SPRTNBD50:
thanks

RoxyRoo - That is really great work and it really shows creativity on your part. Great sketching too by the way. As for cutting the foam mats, I broke down and bought a Dremel 1550 T2 Versa tool from Amazon for a total of $26.73 (which isn't too big of an investment) and it really makes good clean, smooth cuts. A steady hand helps too. I intend to make the inner thigh pieces for my Reach Jun armor from the foam to go inside the regular pep'd outer thigh pieces. I am just waiting for warmer outside temps to do the resin/bondoing to get going. Great work with the foam armor and hope to see more soon. - Bill

Roxy I'm thoroughly impressed... I can't wait to see this finished, I have a strong feeling that it'll be one of the best Spartans ever built.

The Dremel 1550 T2 can it cut angles.

You all are very sweet. I'm always impressed by the level of encouragement and helpfulness this community has. Power to the 405th!!!

omg lol you're in phoenix? are you at ASU? I'm at poly foaming helmets for Humans Vs Zombies...I must say that even your eva pep build looks better than my emile helmet currently...I had to make the visor pep style out of pclear plastic sheeting and hot glue...icky icky...
Still very good work, and I'm sure if I can find the time even with college to build armor pieces u can too! :D

No. I got to a community college, but yes, I'm in the phoenix area.
Do you have a thread up so I can see what you're working on? I guess I could just check...

ARMOR PROGRESS!!!

I realized what I was doing wrong with the chest piece. >_> I didn't make a "cushion" layer. I decided to base it off Reach. I used reference shots of SavageGiggles to get the basic idea down. The majority of this will not be seen, since it'll be under the armor.

Front

Back, with "small of back" additions. Those'll be attatched with strapping rather than glue so they can move. You can't see it too well here, but I did some significant sculpting with a sander to get certain edges.

Shoulder Blades and top shoulder "wings". I added bits of craft foam underneath the white craft foam to get that "slope" look to it. Again, you can't see it too well here, but it'll be more apparent after I seal and paint it.

I whipped this out in 3 days! I'm getting faster! 8D
Hopefully more updates this weekend. <3

RoxyRoo Your build is coming along:DI have a question? Was cleaning one of the shops and found a lot of extra tools I am no longer in need of (sanders, foam cutters and a hot knife or 4 lol to name a few ) I am looking for an artist and I thought you did drawing if so…... maybe trade tools for art ?? or send me to someone you know . let me know :D

You know how Michelangelo painted the ceiling of the16th Chapel? I was thinking that the metal shop would look great with the universe mixed with all the greatest science fiction mixed in but don’t worry the ceiling in the shop is not nearly as big as the chapel :pha Just need some concept art, and reference photos from Halo, need to get 3-D drawings to 2-D . On the hot knife’s would you prefer one that uses the exacto blades or the one that has like a 3 inch blade on it . On the foam is that similar to black foam mats you would get it sears for the shop ?

You mean sorta like what I did with Kelly's EVA helmet? or more like the sketch of the two spartans? I'm going to give you a link to my art site. Look through there and see what you'd prefer.

What length are the exacto knives? The foam mats are not very thick, so I think 1 inch-ish exacto knives would be perfect.

I used an exacto hot knife on my build- +1 to hot knives for cutting foam. When I used a stanley knife to cut I ended up with some rough edges that needed a lot of prep work, as opposed to using the hot knife when they only needed a little prep per edge.

Heeeeeyyyy. o_o

...

Wanna come over to build shtuff? I wanna see teh hot knives and Plasti dip, see what they can dooo.
No really. I miss you too. I haven't seen you in MONTHS. D=

I would love to rox, I'm chomping at the bit wanting to start a new project- I need to redo a lot of my odst, maybe this week is a good starting point. I'll be around for like 2 days this week- if my wife doesn't already have dibs on me on Monday or Tuesday I'll call you up. I'll try to make it a day in advance so you don't have to rush around.

@RoadKill: But they haven't gotten back to me! It's like they disappeared or something! D= I'm gonna fall off the edge of my seat the anticipation of finally getting a Yes or No is killing me!

@Rosh: I'm available Monday in the afternoon. Tuesay I'm having a Battlestar Galactica marathon with friend sooo... XD You can still come over, but I'll be majorly distracted. hehe.
