So I’m currently trying to figure out how to scale my helmet that I’m going to 3-D prints without armor Smith this is my first time attending this so if there’s anyone who can give me any good tips on how to do this a lot more efficiently it would be most appreciated

Honestly Armorsmith is going to be the most efficient way. I understand the up front cost might seem a bit of shock, but it is widely reported by users of the program that the cost of the program was easily offset by the savings in not wasting filament on mis-scaled items. Honestly, the vast majority of folks here are going to tell you to use Armorsmith. Most threads that start with someone asking for alternatives usually end with the OP buying and using Armor Smith. There is just nothing like it out there right now, paid or free.

There are folks who have used Mesh-mixer and Blender, but it means learning those programs, and several folks who used that method for their first suit would then use Armor Smith for their second suit.

This thread discusses using a 99 cent app to scale a helmet in a slicer for printing:

That said, if you really do not want to use the program there are several tutorials that were written for pepakura or foam crafting, but the basics can be followed for 3D print files:
