How do you model in sketch up?
Do you just build from looking at a picture or what?

Yes essentially thats what i do, I draw the flat object as a face and add angles by creating lines off from the flat surface, then make a new face. It takes a while, but thats all i know. Also for this particular build im using the perfect reference. An 8"(or so) Halo CE Action Figure

wait you said the mkv peps didn't even resemble the suit? They are instant rips of the 3d model ingame (exept my helmet file)
So how can they not be acurate? And it does look a bit boxy, no pun intended :/

i kinda thought that. I'm just glad somebody is making a different one. Would be nice to have some more detail like raised parts, recessed panel lines, etc. This piece still looks like it's gona be cool though!

Well in the game the armor parts were just textured with the look they have on the action figure, same with the files, so they dont have the definition of those lines on the sides of the thigh and the circle and such. Im trying to make files more accurate to the action figure. And yeah, Ill have to figure out how to fix all the boxiness.

Thanks! And Ive got another update!

This piece is the group of pockets on the front, I know its just a bumped out panel. but i was thinking either wrap it with fabric to give the elusion of pockets, or just dont use it at all and make real usable pockets, thats why its detached.

Im thinking of doing my own helmet, but well se how that turns out! And yeah i tried to do those lights on the back, but for some reason Sketchup wont recognize the light boxes as a separate face so i cant use the indent tool. Ill try again later tho.

Also Ive got even more updates now!!!
I finished the upper arm, but there is something about it I dont like, cant exactly figure it out though. Tell me what you guys think

dang, I use blender, but I may have to try sketchup... nice work!
Thanks! I've been using Sketchup for a while now and Ive got use to it, its simple but very a powerful
modeling program. Ive just started trying to model armor , mostly I would model guns.

I also have another update:
I stayed up late last night finishing the rest of the arm.
Forearm

34636_1332054022928_1278339573_30796043_3516144_n.jpg

In my opinion I think the forearm is a little too short, but I modeled it with the same proportions as the action figure. So what do you guys think??

Handplate

I'm using Sketchup too!
If you have imported your files to pepakura before, you could see many open edges.
How'd you fix that?

Yeah, Ive noticed that, my open edges are few in my current models but i think what the problem is is I noticed that it makes open edges if you have a white faced surface next to the blueish ones, cause It did that where they were on my models.
