Do you fire it then old it? I would be scared of an air bubble erasing all your work.

Castellan_Craft is correct, yet again! It's not a ceramic/pottery clay, it's oil-based, which does not dry, and does not need to be fired. Good stuff, really.

Feel free to slap me anytime for jumping the newbs. It's just too much fun to avoid my poetry homework like this. XD

LOL!!! Not at all!! You're being extremely helpful to them, and doing me a favor by saving me the trouble of doing it! And I would never slap anyone doing me a favor... well, at least not in any way that might be considered unwelcome by the recipient of said slap ;)

im not a newb i was just wondering for the metroid other m costume that im making from nintendudes obj files....

Hahahaha!! I'm not even going to begin to point out the glaringly obvious evidence suggesting that's not true!! Except this one… DO NOT EVER ask for passwords to full versions of Pepakura Designer!! It can get you BANNED!! Being a n00b is nothing to be ashamed of, though, we were all n00bs once :) Even LongShot-X claimed to be a n00b, and look what he did!! And I have seen the Metroid pepakura thread, I’m just not going the pepakura route for this build… unless I get REALLY desparate :)

that's pretty awesome. you should add some lights or something :)

Lights are DEFINITELY on the agenda, but I really have my hands full just getting past the basic build, at this point.

if you are going for the whole corrupted version of samus where she is glowing blue from the phazon, then try thatscoolwire.com and look for blue EL wire

Huh? What? Oh, yeah, sorry... progress is slow, I kind of got obsessed with getting the right measurements of everything. I'm taking measurements of the 3D model and trying to duplicate them in clay, which is not a fast or easy process (for me, at least, LOL!!). Gotta get the grooves to be the correct depth, and that band to be the right width, and get everything to as accurate a scale as possible compared to the reference model. And I thought this piece was going to be easy hahaha!!

It's not going too bad, actually, when you consider that the helmet took me six months (not including the 9 month break), and I wasn't quite as meticulous with that. I've only been really working on this piece for about one month so far (not including the break to work on other things) so, comparatively, it's actually going very quickly!

Oh, and here are some pics... Like I said, it doesn't look much different than before. If you look at the third picture, you can really see how uneven the bottom band is, and how much work is still required.

How many pounds is that? XD

Looking good, I just ordered 20lbs of clay for 90$(With shipping) still haven't decided what I'll be making :/ .

Also, Is That the Symeterizier-ey-er-izer?

Nope, I bought full gallon kits of everything. Used about half of the silicone and a little more than half of the Plasti-Paste.

one gallon of:
Smth-Cst-300: $81.76
Rbnd-25: $174.97

yeesh, I'll have to sell some casts or something to get that back. Not a problem though ;).

WOOHOO!!! Hey, there, I know it's been a while, but I FINALLY got some time to work on this. Life in general has gotten in the way (I've only been turning on my computer for about 10 minutes at a time), and I also have been trying to figure out a way to fix some of the problems with the curvature, symmetry, and overall unevenness that I've been noticing. Judging from the pictures, the sculpt hasn't really changed too much from the last update, but I did some work on that banding so it's more even now, and I also just yesterday finished work on an improved template to fix the curvature of the bell (which was one of the biggest things that was bothering me). It's still a little off, and it's likely never going to be "perfect," but I'm hoping to fix it a little bit more today.

I've also been experimenting with making videos! I think I've figured out a decent setup, so I can finally begin that video series I've been wanting to do: "Trial by Error: Learning through Failure with Uber-Noob, ShadoKat!" Here's the first installment, a long, rambling, babble-heavy video of how I used the curvature template... Enjoy (if at all possible lol)!!!
