so far the folds look good and the glueing is awesome... it seems to early to tell if it will be small or not. but 2 inches it more than enough for padding so i think you will be good. and if it is to small, there is no need for football helmet padding... just slim down the padding and you will be fine. you are making a prop? idk if you where plnning on going to war in this:) your good

turns out it won't be small. We have 12" tiles on the kitchen floor lol and my head was no bigger than that so yeah, I think I'll be good. I'm hopefully making a Halo fanfilm, with Covies in it so I hope everything works out.... :) and thanks for the advice eliteslayer!! :)

Ok, another update, I'm going to leak information. The helmet I'm pepping is the Reach Hazops helmet, essentially going to be a prop for a fanfilm I want to make. A pretty awesome journey, as I pep and make my armor. I'll also be writing the script, which I will not leak lol. :p so here's another progress picture. working on the dome at the top of my helm to stabilize it.

Hallelujah!!!!! it's not too small!! almost looks too big!!! anyway, I'm having problems with the entry hole not being big enough, and stabilization of the helmet is not complete, but it's coming along! I also free handed this top piece of my helm, because designer wanted it to go just straight in a line, but I stackered the individual pieces to give it a slight Mk. VI look...

Yes, I know the first pic shows the helmet a little warped, but in all honesty, it's not really, it's just not fully stabilized yet... Comments welcome!!! happy building!!!

it is takeing shape man... but i strongly suggest you create a plan for how to put the helm together.(EXAMPLE: back to front, top to bottom).
just to prevent haveing pieces like that random on going across your face. but you are right, not all the pieces are on and its not quite structually sound yet. the glue will be easy to take care of with some sanding. KEEP IT UP:)

¡Consumado es! haha pep stage 100 % complete! I'm gonna go through the whole way with the helmet, to kinda give me a push to get the rest done ASAP.(bondo, resin, paint, etc.) so here's some progress pictures, front, back, right, and left. Comments below!

Looking fantastic so far, keep it up. I'm starting my first halo project as well, so from a fellow apprentice, I wish you good luck! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

so you know i'm not claiming this model as my own, the helmet is by torsoboy. [EDIT] ok, all you senior peppers, I need help. I have the reach chest rundown model unfold by Brandon Mclain, and the width is set to 429 mm, but my actual chest size(widest area) is 532 mm. and when I set the model to this width, all the sudden the pieces don't fit on just one page anymore. I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hey i don't know about rundown's chest model. It may be an error in the design. however if a piece is simply too big you can always right click on it in the designer and use the join/disjoin tool to cut a big piece into smaller pieces. then just take your time and position all the pieces so they fit on the pages.

For scaling i use Halogoddesses tutorial. It has not failed me once: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/31627-HaloGoddess-quot-How-To-Scale-quot-and-More-Tutorial

However i have used L3x's ver 3 and 4 chest pieces in my own personal build. I highly reccommend the file if you feel you are good enough at pep to tackle it. http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/33480-L3X-s-File-Database

Also if your feeling really confident L3x's ver 4 is what i think is the most accurate torso out there, but it's very detailed and is kind of a tough build. Mkshane did an excelent unfold for this one: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/28565-Another-Reach-Mark-V-Torso/page23

Feel free to ask if you have anymore question. Best of luck

That is a beautiful chestpiece, and I hope to make it in the future. I would right now, but I'm still calming down after pepping for 6 months.

Yeah it is i just finished pepping it. I'll post pics in a day or two. But yeah i know the feeling after finishing this and a few other pieces im a little burnt out

Thanks all for the tips, I needed them! I also am using her scaling tutorial, it worked for my hazops helm, so I'm gonna try it for everything else. I believe I'm gonna check out ver 4, I want my armor looking spectacular.(like I literally hope to make it waterproof as I want drool all over it.) lol thanks and yea, I'll pm ya if I have any more questions. Is ver 4, the foam one, is it ok to pep? as in cardstock? cause I don't see any other ver 4 torso...

Go with the L3X chest plate, It will save you allot of time in the end. Get the pep ver. if you plan on peping it

Looking good, cant wait to see more of it!

I have ver 3, but ver 4 looks like it's a foam build.... is ver 4 just a ver 3 for foam? if that makes sense?

From my understanding of the thread, V4 is an updated and more detailed version than V3. However, it's unfolded for foam right now, and L3x hasn't put out an unfold for pep (I wanna say someone on the thread did do a pep unfold though). It seems like L3x is wanting to do the unfold in sections which would be really, really nice.

Anyways, keep up the good work! Happy building!

Thanks TJ, although I kinda went stalker status on that thread and worked my way backwards, :p hoping to find the pep version, since I don't have time to learn how to deal with foam, but alas, no pep was to be found; which is okay, because I'm working my way from smallest to biggest, which would be handplates, the boot file you sent me, biceps, codpiece, shins, thighs, then the torso(best for last!) so I've got alot of stuff to go through anyway, so I have to wait. And I saw that about the sectioned pieces, for some odd reason it looks like it will be easier to build, I wouldn't know, it will be the first Torso I've done, would you believe that, such an elaborate piece and it will be my first! haha!

[EDIT] Progress report!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got my helm Resined on the outside with no warpage, gonna work on fiberglass tomorrow! so let the pics do their talkin!

Ok, so what you see in the last two pictures is my helmet upside down, stuffed with newspaper, and a big piece of cardboard lodged in the entry hole. Why, you might ask? because I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not earlier, but the hole was too narrow for my gargantuan head to fit through. so I stuffed my helmet with newspaper to help the helm keep it's form,(I got the idea from BenStreeper) and the cardboard piece acts as a support strut for the entry hole,(no warping yet, I don't believe) and a bracer/widener, so there you have it! so if not before, I'll be glassing the helmet this weekend coming up, for school waxeth heavily upon me!!!!
