Personally, I'm down with the Halo 2 Marines.

1) Plenty of ref pics
2) Most recognizable
3) Simpler than the Halo 1 marines
4) I'm down for a Sgt. Johnson myself! :)

Your call my man, but you have my support.

Awesome glad to hear it. If you need some help or whatever let me know. I, as well as others, look forward to your progress.

Now that I think about it what kind of Camo are we going to use??

someone had posted a thread about the different styles.....need to find it, i know that they have four kolors in the camo

your helmet looks like it is gonna be sweet. if it comes out anything like your AR i'm sure it will blow everybody away.

Agreed my friend! I have been doing a little research on the boots and how to get them to look like Halo 2 marines. Poking around on the clonetroopers.net forums and I found a tutorial on how to make clone shoes, on the cheap. Craft foam, velcro, combat boots and time. If the craft foam isn't enough of a match I know of a technic to wrap craft foam in 2 way stretch vinal to give it a more leather look. Of course some gesso or mod podge as a sealer then some flat black latex paint may do this, but who knows. I need to get some construction paper and make a pattern and test this out. I will post some pictures of my results if I can get some work done this week.

Thanks link4044. I have run into a mild set back. The craft foam method has a problem. Basically it's not going to work. This stuff doesn't flex well around the instep, the shin meets the foot or ankle to instep area, of the foot. I am rethinking this by using these two tutorials here:

I well report more when I get some actual progress made. *sigh* back to the drawling board!

As a side note! I found a few candidates for gloves.

I like the last one on the list myself, but you guys poke around and be the judge.

i seen those gloves before...i was thinking about getting the 2nd one and the last one for my master chief....but they might work for the marines
i wish you luck with the boots that sux that they dont flex well

link4044 - Yeah I know. I feel bad because all I can contribute right now is words. I wanted to find a cheaper way of getting accurate boots, but it looks like that isn't possible right now. I want a sewing machine so I can start making a few things I really want, but that is atleast $200 for a basic yet good machine. I keep looking at that toy that guy made from scratch and I so want that armor. However, I can not expect you to do all the work.

Some other ideas I had about the armor. The knee and elbow pads seem like those should be vaccumformed and attached to some actual pads. Still trying to find that post about that Russian Camo so we could use that to be accurate, but I like the digital camos because of the neck roll which matches all the photos I have seen of Marine Halo 2 armor. Also because it is readily available. I'm wondering how we are going to attach the shin armor to the boots? What motorcycle boots where you looking at?

Eternal - If you, link4044, and myself could get together for atleast 1 week straight we would knock this whole thing out no problem! However, the real world and life get in the way of all that. We do what we can my man.
