Alright, I am pretty happy with the results. I will probably wake up in the morning and see something I missed on it, but for now I am finished with the knife. (minus the painting and all that.)
So, here it is, and I will be borrowing a friends actual camera tomorrow to take some good quality photos.
Thanks for following my build on this one.
Thanks goes out to Juliet76 for the awesome blueprints. (as seen in the background here.) ^^
Excellent end to a great WIP. The bare wood appearance of the thing really brings out the craftsmanship. I like how square and true your angles are. Clean, neat lines and the dimensions are perfect. I'll bet its perfectly balanced too. Very Nice good work sir.
Ok, took some new pictures with a better camera, and here they are.
Here is my friend with the knife and his ODST helmet that I have been helping him make. He is doing a very good job and I think it is coming along nicely.
Thanks again to everyone who had kind words to add to my thread, and I hope to have a new project going soon.
That is a very good suggestion Late to the Meeting, I will have to try that out. I was thinking something along the line of having a release mech built into the triangle in the sheath. When you draw the knife, press the button and it will release. I want to do something like this, so the final paint won't be as likely to be scraped off after repeated drawings.
More than likely, I will just stick with wood, unless I can get my hands on some pvc or some polyurethane. I did like your idea, but like you said, mine is a little simpler. In my experience, the more complex you make something, the more likely it is to fail.
