I'm using 26 CM as my scale, and I have the designer, its the printer that messes it up, could I just layer plaster onto it after I resin this little helmet?

Sorry, I forgot to include, this is just for the mold, I'm not wearing this paper helmet.

You know, guys i'm kinda retarded, and..Uhh..I don't exactly know how on earth to put the Pepakura helmet stuff..together....Theres alot of numbers and something about mountain and valley lines..is there like, some step by step thing for stupid people like me on how to put it together?

This is fantastic...
We should get this mirrored in the tutorial section, and linked from the TUTORIAL LINK page.

Just an FYI for all of the tutorial users:

I really enjoy this site, and I have nothing but love for everyone here and what they are trying to do. But right now my life is full of home improvement projects and other things that occupy all of my time. It is for this reason that I am not active on this site very often.

So please, stop PM'ing me questions concerning this tutorial I wrote several months ago. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you can't figure out how to put the stuff together, then you either didn't read all the pages written so far, or you are just simply never going to get it. There are no short-cuts to making good armor, so take the time and READ.

My applause to all who step in to answer questions in this thread. I'm glad to have helped participate in making a small little niche of all the tutorials that may help you to create your Pepakura/MJOLNIR armor. I'll stop by now and again to see what's going on, and hopefully sooner or later I will find the time to rejoin everyone in making armor/props.

But again, if you have questions, post them here. They are 100% more likely to get answered than if you PM me.

what do you guysthink abut printing it out on regular paper and tracing the pieces onto 1mm sintra and gluing it together with CA glue?

I don't know what sintra is but maybe you could glue it on to the sintra and cut up to the size of the piece...

Sintra is basically a foam core, even 1mm is pretty thick when talking about folding a sheet. The thicker the sheet of foam core, the more important it is to follow these points. This will turn one of the facings into the surface & should leave the cuts on the inside. You might want to do a cardstock version to so you know how the model goes together. I haven't actually built a helmet with sintra, but I have worked extensively with similar materials (foam core, matboard, heavy cardboard).

I would flip the pattern (2dPatternWindow>Flip Pattern) and remove the tabs (2dPatternWindow>Show Flaps); whis will require you to readjust the layout.

Print it out on regular paper and laminate them onto your sintra (glue, paste, whatever; but laminating would be better).

Then score the fold lines from the pattern side;
dot dash lines (-*-*-*-*-*-) should be a cut straight down (these are the valley folds)
dash lines (--------) need to have 2 cuts joining under the line creating a V, only problem is that the angle of the V depends on how sharp the angle is.

Now, cut out your pieces; If a joint between pieces would be a "mountain fold" you might want to remove a sliver at an angle. You can remove all of the pieces before proceeding, or can go on to the next step as you remove them

Finally, you can fold and attach your pieces using tape; tape will have to be applied to the outside, you can reinforce the inside with tape once the pieces are shaped properly

hye i printed out the 21 faces off of peparica or w/e but now i want to know how to put it all together are there instructions or anything or do i have to do the baseball thing which i cant find anymore lol. Thanks for helpin a newb

i stumbled upon this site, i already have been doing papercraft for a long time, and use pepakura regularly, i made my own masterchief helmet, but never thought of using fiberglass to make it like these. i have a .pdo file i put together it make alot of sense. the scaling is slightly too small to actually wear. but its in standard "letter" format.

i will update this pdo file shortly, i fixed a few trouble spots in the 3d model (left ear piece), and plan to add a bit more detail. but heres the fixed 3d file.

you can use the "join/disjoin face" tool (right click) in pepakura designer, just hover over the edge you want it will highlight the edge it connects to.
als, you can right click and select "check corresponding face" to see where on the finished model that part is. good luck

We appreciate the help danni, and it's great to have another pepakura guy around but double post of doom! Edit button will fix it quick.

I use the corresponding face function and the join/disjoin face function a lot too.

It makes life and the complicated models so much easier.

I noticed in another post that the stormtroopers use sintra a lot, they might have more tips on their boards (501st website). Better yet, hit a Star Wars, RPG or a few other sci-fi cons. They often provide security services and in general are very helpful.

Oops, 501st doesn't have a public forum, but some of the sites listed under resources do; like whitearmor.net, they have a construction section in their forums.

Star Wars Celebrations (nt sure if they're going to do anymore) and GenCon (anually in US and Europe, and maybe Austrailia) are run by GenCon

Origins is in Ohio (US), Dragoncon in Georgia (US), comiccon in San Diego (US)
for some European cons go to: Convention listings, European SciFi Con (Copenhagen, better get hopping, it's this month)

I can't guarentee the 501st will be at any con; but even if the 501st doesn't attend some of it's members are likely to. Especially if it's a big con.

just finished updating the 3d model for the master chief MKVI helmet, to make it more like the cutscene version, also with no visor, since it will be replaced with a real one... im unfolding the .pdo as we speak. mods, when its done, will you add this to the first post?

check it out here (10 pages, standard "letter" size) helmet.pdo

i got a question. the mc helmet file downloads like dat but the other files wont even start. is it sopossed 2 take a long time or what?

Just printed out the MC helmet. I underestimated the amount of paper used. This is one heck of a 3-d puzzle man even with the numbers, Imagine how long it would take to do it without numbers. like 3 months!
