Unsc/sierra117's Battle Rifle Build

Hey guys waz up. Well i decided to start making a weapon for my up coming suit. My weapon of choice was the always fun, Battle Rifle from Halo 3.Ive never made props and items from movies or games before, so this is all new to me but i am confident that i can complete this task accurately and goodly lol.

So basically i just started with a 1 by 2 inch bit of timber, witch was about 90cm or roughly 36inchs long for those under imperial measurement. Then i filled in a few holes it had with some putty and gave it a good sand. I then cut the small groove from the back of the gun into it, at the appropriate spot.

I made identical side panels by placing 2 pieces of 1cm plywood together and marking out the shape of the pieces with a pencil and square rule. I used a scale drawing of the gun which i found on these forums, you can search for them yourself or i think its "Wizard Of Flight" who has the blue prints. I printed it out onto an A4 piece of paper and worked out my measurements from that. I then cut it out with a jigsaw

I screwed those pieces to the main part of the gun to hold it all together, and to make sure it looked ok.

Now I got started on the hand grip or the lower front part of the gun.
I measured up and cut out again identical side pieces and another small block section for the middle of this part, and again screwed it all to the base of the weapon.

This is all i have for today, but tomorrow i will be working on the top, rear and further details of the BR. so stay tuned

Where do I start? It looks like you are off to a good start here. So far, so good. Now the criticism.

Punctuation and Capitalization are your friends. Use them. Don't use run on sentences as it makes your post hard to read. Use a CAP as the first letter of a sentence. Put a period at the end. Or exclamation point. Or a question mark. End of English 101.

Good luck on the build.

Yep sorry about that, I tend to just run through what I’m typing and not really think about it. No probs I’ll make sure I’m more careful next time.

This is looking very promising! I'll keep my eyes on this thread, perhaps you and I can exchange tips and tricks with each other? I'm making my Battle Rifle almost the same way, so I think we can help each other. ;)

Not alot of stuff to critisice yet, but so far it's a great base, you could not have done it any better.

What are your plans for the barrel and scope?

Well I have been thinking about that, and so far haven't come up with anything solid for the scope. The barrel on the other hand is the easy bit, I'm just going to use a few different size pieces of dowel to get my desired look. maybe if you have any theories or ideas for the scope maybe you could share, but yeah as i said, i have nothing on that part yet.

So today i worked on part of the removable magazine and also more of the front part.
Basically all the same sorta stuff, marking up the pieces and cutting them out with a jigsaw.

Bottom sections of the removable magazine.

These are the front Scope mount and handle pieces.

I also decided to start putting on a bit of construction bog on some of the areas at the front.

So there is a bit of sanding to start me off tomorrow.
oh! and i will point out that i was wearing PPE the whole time (Personal Protection Equipment) for those who don't think its necessary.

So there you go, even the noobyest of noobs wear it.
And that's pretty much what i got done today
c ya tomorrow.

Hey S1l3nt V1p3r, u have some pretty cool builds. To the notion of sharing tricks and tips between us, I'd be happy to, 2 heads are better then one, and on these forums though its more like a few hundred heads, so who knows what we can come up with. So um yeah keep up the good stuff

Dude I have seen some impressive A.ssualt R.ifles on this form, but your BR is the bomb. I can't wait to see the end result.

SINCERLY: the noob not spoon fed,
TYVERN

Cheers man, that is the best comment anyone could possibly ask for, makes ya feel all good inside, haha, um yeah anyway thanks again man and i hope the end product is as good as i hope it will be.

I was thinking of having lights in this thing, but I'm not to crash hot with that sort of stuff. Do ya thing its worth the effort. lol haha now i sound slack.

If you ever run into an obstacle, let me know. I am done with the Assembly of my own BR, so I know how and where the pieces go together. ;)
So if you ever wonder what to do next, just send me a Private Message, and I'll help you out!

This is looking great!

I don't think I've seen a weapon made in any other way except pepakura before this, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out!

I have a feeling it will turn out awesome! :D

Yes, it's very possible, but I'm not sure what lights, if any, are on the BR.

Anyways, it looks great right now. I see you're putting alot of details and thought into the base. For a scope, you could but a real scope that looks similar, or you could modify an airsoft scope or something to that degree. Just make sure to wait until everything's painted to put it on, 'cause you don't want a painted scope lens.
