I love mdf. I see you do to. Awesome work. Great detail. Have no fear with the molding, just practice on the small parts first. I never molded before I did my spiker. I learned most of the basics on here and other online sources. Practice makes perfect. Cant wait to see the final product.

MDF's not as easy to work with as clay but it's a whole lot more permanent once you have something that you're happy with. It's also easier because you can use a more "modular" approach. Now you know why I haven't given my Spiker the loving attention it deserves - I've been a bit obsessed lately... :)

Tramendous work! Love the detail you've put into the hammer.

Actually it was your work on your Battle Rifle that convinced me to get off my butt and get to it...

Thanks everyone! I added some additional detailing/spot putty work to the head this morning and should be priming and sealing this afternoon. Then I can get to work finishing off the handle...

wow that sucker must be ridiculously heavy! Nice work :)

Thanks! It's actually hollow inside and the main body is only 1/4" thick so it's really not too bad - maybe 3-4 pounds tops with the attached greeblies...

Well I'm glad, you are building one awesome prop. Sorry to here about you losing your job. I lost my job 7 months ago and now I'm back in collage. Good luck!

Seems like Lee's been inspiring a number of people around here to get working on some mighty impressive projects lately, lol.

Dog, what can I say that anyone else hasn't? Fantastic work you've done on this. Like Adam said, this is definately the "biggest friction device" I've ever seen anyone tackle.

Absolutely love all the uber-detail work you've put into it. Dare I say, the best replica of its type I've seen :D

EDIT: Haven't really used MDF board much myself, but I have often heard of (and seen) its usefulness in prop building. I picked some up for a TNG Medkit project I hope to get going sometime soon...

Hehe... That was about the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. Thanks for the move - I'll make sure this project lives up to it's new address...

Thanks! It is fairly easy - the key is to have a bench sander. If I had to do it all by hand with a block it would take months instead of weeks...

May I be the first to point out its extreme epicness? :)
Seriously, thats amazing.

Thanks! Epic is what I'm shooting for and it's nice to know that I'm on the way...
