ok so everybody wanted a reference pic of the chest and a shoulder piece, well I started on the shoulder and got it to wear I could put it on and see how it will look with the chest, overall I think it might work but let me know what you guys think.
shot with the helmet, since there is no padding in the helmet it flops around a bit so that is why its not sitting straight.
also got the full left arm pep'd, with this shoulder as it is, I dont think I will need the upper arm piece since I doubt it would really be seen. Plus it kinda limits my arm mobility with it on. All in all the arm piece might be too big but let me know what you guys think!!
Looks like one of the Emperor's fine to me.
As for the biceps piece, yeah you could get away with leaving it out seeing as your shoulder takes up enough space, up to you entirely.
Ok so mini update, I have been racking my brain on the fact that I just was not happy with the chest I had finished as well as the shoulder I had. After a little searching around I stumbled onto a thread started by Ral Partha(I have seen great stuff of his over on the 405th) so I just knew they had to be good. I found a chest/shoulder combo pdo. that he had unfolded and after scaling it and printing it so far I am liking this one a lot more than my last chest I put together. So it appears that I have a keeper!! Finally I can continue with the rest of the suit now once this thing is finished.
Here is what I have so far:
I dont have the back done to this yet so all I have done is the collar and the front
This is a shot with the helmet I already had pep'd, unfortunately I can't really move my head with the helmet at this size so I think I will reprint it at a slightly smaller scale so I can move my head around with the collar a bit.
alright guys here is a big update, I have the chest completetly pep'd as well as both shoulder pads so I modeled a few pics for you guys to get a look see!!
here is just one shoulder
both shoulder pads
both pads and the chest
back view
me wearing the chest
me holding the pads on, go nothing to hold them on just yet
ok, so I re-pep'd the helmet to make it smaller for me to move my head while wearing the chest. I succeeded.
here are a few pics:
the new helmet is the one on the left
it has the ear pieces that the previous helmet did not have
here it is with me wearing the chest
wearing both the chest and a shoulder pad
the helmet fits perfectly, the only draw back is that the frames on my glasses seem to want to sick out through the eyeholes on the helmet, this is easily fixed by me taking off my glasses but then I cannot see very well, I will have to see about a remedy for this, or switch to contacts.
ok, so having the day off allowed me to get a lot done,
here are both the arms I finished a little while ago. I did not do the bicep piece since the shoulder pad will cover them up anyway.
arm files are by Shiney
here they are with the shoulder pads for reference
Alright guys I have now moved on to the lower half of the armour. I have started on the right leg. I originally used the same scale as Ralph Partha's chest file I used, since it was also his leg file I am working on, and the think didn't quite fit me. So I increased the scale slightly and I like how it is looking so far. This is just the start I still have to add the trim and of course the knee pad and boot, but let me know what you think so far!
Well we cant have any of that heresy now can we???
lol
and certainly when I get to that stage I will be adding some personal heraldry to my armor both with the designs on the shoulders as well as the latin text that will be on the purity seals. I will start resining as glassing once I get my legs and belt pieces straightened out, and it really needs to start warming up here in Virginia but as Virginia winters go that may be February before that happens.
so a very minor update here, no actual progress on the costume but I happened to get my undershirt for the costume in the mail today.
I know its a little snug, I am on a wait-loss plan so it should be fine by the time it counts to wear the thing. BTW for those who care Weight Watchers really works, I was on it before the holidays and lost 50 LBS. I dropped it before the holidays since the eating a lot was inevitable. But now I am back on and 100% dedicated to it and will be back in shape for the continuation of my costumes.
Been working on that as well, all in all though I am not going to lose but so much with the body type that I am. But be darned if I won't give it my best
I am 6 foot tall, I know, I have seen where people want to do a life size outfit, I on the other hand would still like to be able to move in the thing. I like what I have so far and feel that with some work I kind of have the body type to pull off that space marine look without trying to be 8I feet tall lol
