Hey, Belakor.

A question on that EOD chest, if I may?

Any word on the scaling system? I built a copy for a friend, and it's WAY too big, I think. I'll post pics, but... like I said, I think it's too big, and a scaling system wouldn't go amiss to help with the construction.
Hmm... I never really came up with a good sizing system for the EOD specifically  What I did, (and it seems to have worked) is size the CQB to my torso piece using that cobbled together size tester in the first post and transferred the scale number to the EOD, but I've never heard if that system worked for anyone else.
What's the width of the EOD chest at the light/side box things on the one you built? and how big was the torso?

Corner? dude, at this rate, you will have to leave the room :D hey, at 16, your hormones were out of whack too, right?

its a good thing my parents were gonna throw out an fairly used sheet of foam from their bed, its like 2 inches thick and covers a queen sized bed. Think thats enough padding for a whole set of armor? :)
At 16 I was too busy learning to picking locks and cracking safes to pay attention to hormones :p

Wow, a queen sized sheet of foam? That'd probably do between six and eight sets of my armor :D I grabbed a single sized roll and I barely used a quarter of it :)

Torso scale was taken as 42.4cm high - bear in mind, this isn't for me, but a friend... still, it looks a little too large for his chestpiece. If there's a way to scale it, or snap it to FS's HD chest, I'd love to hear from you - otherwise, it's most likely back to making testers from A4 printer paper until I get a decent fit.

A security helmet? I never knew (but then again, i dont watch this thread all the time ;) )

With your previous work, a security helmet would be nice, if it werent for that damn visor. I would do it, but i really dont like the file....plus im lazy :D

I would say, from a quick test I just did, that the scale number should be about 3.753 for the EOD chest on a 42.4cm Torso. Though to make things easier I've just copied the obj of the chest over to my Mac and will see if I can rig up a size tester for it... wont be anything fancy, just a bar running across the chest that you can measure and compare against the width of the torso armor.

Are you ever going to finish the security helmet you made awhile ago?
At some stage, not sure when though... I'm working on some non-Halo stuff at the moment (the Iron Man and some comic stuff) and I still have to finish the EOD, Mk V, and ODST, after I've done them I'll probably start the Security.

I 'm not sure if I've posted it in here and I can't be bothered to look for it so I'll post it again :p

I don't think the visor would be all that hard... just waiting to see what happens with NZ's EVA visor ;)

While searching for a video of me in my TK that was on tv the other day (it was on Special Features last week on C4 for any locals) I remembered the short clip of me in the Spartan at Armageddon:
http://the-hub.tv/content/view/1220/105/
It's only like three seconds of me and a friend in the TD (Sandtrooper) with one of the hosts right at the start of the vid... FYI I'm holding the pistol but the cameras have a hard time focusing.
*Note to anyone considering black armor: Cameras don't like photographing all black suits ;)

Ha, I like how the host hit you in the face with her scarf. Anyways, great suit. I always picture yours in my mind as inspiration when i'm working on my own suit :D

I never noticed the scarf in the face:lol: It was hard enough seeing where I was going and trying not to bump into her :p the Recon has appalling peripheral vision :cautious:
And thanks for the compliment, good to know the pics and info in the thread are helpful to others :)

Just took these for a post on the RPF and thought I should post them here too :)

Don't you wish that was what the Legendary Edition helmet/stand actually looked like :D

And (almost) all my Halo helmets together:

im not much of a fan for recon, ODST all the way, they deserve more recognition than they get, but i wouldnt mind getting the belakor edition lol

Started repainting the helmet late last week for a meeting I had on the weekend, I'm slowly removing all the impact weathering and doing a lot more drybrushing. I'm actually starting to think the helmet would look cool in a drybrushed gunmetal type color rather than black... that'd mean repainting the whole suit though and I'm not going to do that right now.

Drybrushing FTW. Gunmetal would look great!
That recon helmet keeps getting better...

I think gunmetal would look cool. When I do my ODST I plan on painting it a lighter shade of black, like off-black :D . I find that a black object doesn't photograph well. The details tend to get lost in the blackness.

... ugh, now look what you made me do :cautious:

Still needs a lot of evening out but it's starting to look good and it does bring out the details and make inking way easier... the lighting sucks too.
I love drybrushing, the hands get a little tired though :p and now that I've done it and seen just how hard it is to photograph I'd definitely recommend not using a solid black for any armor, video cameras certainly hate it... especially when you're standing next to a shiny white Stormtrooper.

Yeah, we just had to twist your arm like that. Looks good. The details are more prominent and it looks more...realistic, if thats the right word.? Like it has seen use, but not excessively so. I'm surprised no one said anything about the "off-black" comment.
