Carpathia's Carter Build (picture heavy!!)

I'm in your shoes Carp. I can't work on my ODST (which I have to RE FREAKING START) and now I'm not making a carter costume, I'm making my spartan, and my friend is making hers, so we can troll cons with aweseom sauze.

My mixture ratio depends on how thin I want the rondo, and how fast I want it to set. For example, if I'm rondoing a large piece, I want a relatively thin, fast setting mixture, so about 50/50 bondo-resin and a little more hardener than ususal.

50/50 ratio but how about the hardener, which hardener should I use?

Like Kiba, I use both hardeners. But keep in mind that a 50/50 mixture makes a very thin rondo. If you are hardening a helmet or the like, you may want to consider a 70/30 bondo/resin mixture. 50/50 is good for weapons and generally hardening closed models.

Sir, I am stunned by the quality of your work.

Thank you. Unfortunately, however, after seeing the quality of many other 405th members' armor, I've scrapped a good portion of the pieces done in this build and will be starting fresh with foam come late spring. I still have the helmet and the shoulders, but everything else will be replaced (and to be honest, I may eventually rebuild the helmet).

I'm trying to achieve a good 'Steel' color, I think you found it :D
I took a look at this picture, I need to know what color it is!!

I NEEDZ UR SEKRET!!!!

The paints used in this build so far are Duplicolor automotive spray paint. The specific colors used are Bahama Blue Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, and Medium Charcoal Metallic. These colors are then coated with Duplicolor Clear Top Coat. Basically, the armor is getting a paint job on par with an automobile. Here is a picture of one of the cans...

Now, I see that you are from Malaysia. I'm not sure what the equivalent is over there, but look into automotive spray paints, and you'll be looking in the right place. Hope this helps.

I see. Though, I do spot a lot of Imported Spray Paint like Krylon here in Malaysia at Ace Hardware., maybe I'll come across this. Though my main Target is the "Medium Charcoal Metallic" which has a very nice 'Steel' tone to it, and from your picture, looks like its much darker then the Silver so I can do additional Weathering. Thanks for your help Carp, really helped!!

Whoa, buddy. This topic is getting on for a year old; try not to post if the previous reply was over a month ago. Not to mention; asking for commission work is pretty rude and frowned upon about here. You won't find many people willing to make your armour for you.
