Week end update: Nice photo dump time;
I attached the lights permanent. Now I can turn them on and off w/o having to worry that they will fall in. Added a square of craft foam around the hole to cove up my cutting mistakes for the opening, more details added and a few more to go, redid the back center piece. Added velcro on the underside of the right booster and 1 small strap on the bottom right below that same booster so getting in to this and securing it will take a 2nd person......I'll live. I need to add some additional detail pieces......love detail this thing.......the more I add the cooler it looks.
I know its a poor picture, but the boots are done. Got that cut out in the front done and that is all she wrote. I'll take a look at my reference pic one last time and then leave it to the side for it's first coat of plata-dip.
Installed the light in to the shoulder piece. the top piece is velcroed on to allow access to the switch and batteries. So now both shoulder pieces are done and ready for plasta-dipping.
Forearms!!!!! These have now become my most favorite pieces......There is 1 additional piece that is going on top of the white foam area.....but not sure if I 1) need it 2)won't interfere w/ my arms motion as I.....say walk or reach for something.....I found some foam tubing for that "wire" piece on the top of the forearm.....At first it wasn't sticking....even w/ the hot glue, it would just peel off cleanly. I cut the bottom portion of it and then re-glued.......that did the trick. Now if I don't put that additional piece, which is just a large slab of foam w/o any other details on it, I would say these are done.
Test fit: ok these were taken before completion of some of the pieces were finished:
And now.....I must warn you. the next picture is a bit disturbing.......but it is an actual picture and no photo shop enhancements at all.....
Can you say "BOBBLE HEAD". My wife and I were laughing our heads off from this one......It must be the angle of the lights and the fact that I'm wearing all black but it made my head 5 times larger that it actually is for some reason. It should be the other way around shouldn't it? The armor should make the rest of my body look smaller.......I'm so confused. But the test fit was perfect. Everything fits, I can walk around normally.....granted I have to keep my arms out a bit to keep from rubbing the chest piece, and I need a new undersuit. I came across this 2 piece outfit but it was too hot to wear after about 15 minutes in my armor. I'm going to have to look in to installing a water cooling system in the chest......
Now all that is left to build are the thighs, and shins..........and the helmet......UGGGGG.
