You've done it again! This gets a cereal awesome sauce seal of approval :)

Ok....
I've tried to "multi-quote" but it seems that it's not working for some reason?? not sure??

Anyways... thanks everyone for your interests and comments :)

The build is coming along quite smoothly. Time consuming, but smoothly!!
I'll be getting back to work on it first thing Saturday morning, and it looks like I'm going to be able to spend the entire day on it so it should be eventful!

I'm also going to be placing an order for some smooth-on products sometime next week so I can start the mold/cast process for my helmet!
(kinda nervous and excited about the whole process) But I've been reading and researching the whole process and am feeling quite confident :)

More to come soon!
Take care all!
Dave.

Man those details are impressive! Now I'm gonna have to go back eventually and add something to mine. Thanks for putting the pressure on.:p

Unbfreakinleavable

I have been watching this thread everyday for the past 2 months. I have to say, your attention to detail is staggering to say the least. You have inspired me to pick up my dremel and palm sanders and start another project. Keep up the phenomenal work, and thank you for all your effort and inspiration. Happy armoring

@vshore100 & jack7226

Well I'm happy that you guys have had some enjoyment from the thread, even better some motivation to either go back to a build or start something new!

Quite flattering actually, but this is the purpose of this thread, to push people, give some motivation and maybe some new ideas, a different way of thinking/approaching things!

Cheers,
Dave.

I would like to point out that you have now infected my RL. My work colleagues think I am a little more odd because if I find something is great it is now dubbed "awesome sauce". I did notice on another thread some one refered to something as awesome sauce too :)

UPDATE!!!

Alright, here we go!
So I started on the upper part of the back piece, first things first... a generous coat of bondo!

DSC_0919.jpg

Next everything got a thorough sanding and general shaping. Then the area was coated with glazing putty:

Here I've started cutting in some of the back details and drawing in some of the trench details that will wrap from back to side... remember... I'm going for "Game Accurate!" I've always wondered why these specific details are never added to Mk VI builds? I think they are important to have, they finish off the piece!

DSC_0937.jpg

The trench as been cut in and I've started glazing some of the other areas to smooth them out. Here are a few pictures:

Let me apologies in advance for not taking too many pictures of "step by steps" sometimes it's hard to keep remembering to stop and snap a few images :( However, as per normal, the other side will be covered in the next video installment! So fear not, everything will get covered! :)

Here are some pictures of the work so far... Enjoy!!

I added some more detail under the are where the front and back pieces meet:

And last but not least, here's a quick "then and now" reference shot just to see what changes have happened from the stock pep (left side) to the added definition (right side)

Well that's about it for now!
More to come! As usual, questions/comments... Always welcome!!!

Till then,
Dave/Cereal

ITS SO BEAUTIFUL... *reaches to touch it without thinking....Hits computer screen* dangint, i hate when that happens. lol
Great job dave :)

Wow...another work of Art. I'm starting to get the feeling that when you finish this Build, It WILL be the standard in which all other suits will be judged for Elite.

I'm happy to be here and see this this build right from the get go. I know in my book it will go down as a "Epic work of Art" So thank you for taking the time to share this with us. :cool

Thanks man!
It's a lot of work to get the back looking like this. But like I have said many time before, I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Thanks thorn, I'm very flattered by you're opinion of this build!
I know what you mean about "being ther from the beginnig" I very much enjoy when I'm able to be there and watch a thread/build progress! That and it's a lot easier than going over more than 100 pages in a single shot!

As I've always said, The purpose of this thread is to provide an enjoyable read while helping people learn a new way in doing something. If this thread allows just 1 person to become inspired, motivated, supplies them with an idea or teaches them something new... Then all the extra work was well worth it!

Great having you along for the ride!

Dave.

Everything looks so straight and precise like a machine did it (ie. Human armor building machine) truly beautiful work and every update is a reward of patience. Bravo Dave!!!:cool

Hey Dave, not sure if you have placed that order yet, but if not, you will definitely want to go with dragon skin. I use the 10-fast, it seems to work the best. If you go between 3/16 and 1/4 inch thick you shouldn't need a parting seem and can do a one piece glove mold. If you have any questions feel free to fire a pm my way. And the updates have been great! Keep em coming, your attention to detail is wonderful.

Looking aaaaaawesome, as usual Dave! The slight radius on everything is beautiful, as are all the added details. Love it!

Wow, you keep making me lose my lower jaw! That is amazing work! I love how clean your lines are, and how sharp they look even though you round them off.

ANOTHER UPDATE!!!

Well... it's been a productive weekend! So here is another update. The right side of the back piece is done! (Rough state that is) Final detailing will be done once the whole piece is in the Rough Done state.

Ok, let's go!
The last of the trench lines need to be done! Here I've made my lines to follow when cutting.

NOTE: It should be known that anywhere there are cut-ins like this, the piece has been reinforced prior to making any cut at all. Once the lines are finalized, the piece is bulked up accordingly. To not reinforce would be ill advised and asking for a world of hurt!

Ok... where were we... Oh yeah that's right!

DSC_0012.jpg

Trench cut, bondo applied! Waiting for it to cure and then we'll make it look pretty! :)

DSC_0022.jpg

Time for a new layer! So, made my lines then taped up accordingly. Next will be a layer of filler then some sanding and glaze.

DSC_0037-1.jpg

Layer detail applied, sanded, rounded and glazed! Once dry, sand, sand, sand!

DSC_0038.jpg

Sanding done, area starting to smooth out nicely!

DSC_0131.jpg

This area will be getting a detail that jets straight out. Therefore, a support is needed to keep the filler where I want it! This will also guarantee that I have straight lines too!

DSC_0139.jpg

Detail added, sanded, rounded, straightened and glazed! (This one was tricky!)

DSC_0147.jpg

At this point, the right back side is done for now! Once all the detailing is done over the whole piece, I will come back over everything and do the final "fine detail" work!

Here are some pictures of how everything looks so far! It will look worlds better once I shoot it with some primer, but I am currently out! So until I get out to the store to get some more, these will have to due!

Enjoy all!

Just a quick comparison from left to right, just to see how different the piece looks from the front:

And finally just to see it all starting to come together!

DSC_0183.jpg

Well, that's about it for now everyone! I should have some time mid-week to get back to this, Maybe sometime before then I'll get some primer and post some pics. We'll see.

Happy that you are enjoying the build/thread!

Thank you Brandon!
No, I have not yet ordered any materials for molding/casting. However, I will more than likely take you up on some advice when the time comes!
Thank you very much for your offer!

Looking aaaaaawesome, as usual Dave! The slight radius on everything is beautiful, as are all the added details. Love it!

Lol, Thanks Lil!
I'm compelled to basically round everything over! I feel that it gives more fluidity and that added sense of realism. It take some extra time but well worth it IMO!
Just wanted to say again, You're build is freaking stunning! Am enjoying every second of it!

Wow, you keep making me lose my lower jaw! That is amazing work! I love how clean your lines are, and how sharp they look even though you round them off.

Thank you Kyre!

Thanks everyone for the comments!
As usual, any comments/questions/critiques.... always welcome.

Take care all!
NOW GET OUT THERE AND BUILD SOMETHING!!
