Chief and Cortana

That looks like the same bodysuit I got.

Just fyi, lycra won't dye, it especially won't take lighter colours. You MIGHT be able to just use bleach, but bleach is pretty iffy and might leave it spotty or just eat away at the lycra itself. Personally, I wouldn't suggest it overall.

Good luck trying to lighten it!

Fiberglass and resin won't take up hardly anything at all, like maybe a good cm of space. The padding is what takes up the room, but you can always lessen the amount of padding to make the bicepfit better. Great work so far!

@Hyokenseisou Yeah, it looks like the exact same bodysuit lol. It was the best option, as far as I could see. I originally wanted to get a unitard, but after considering the hassle with putting all that makeup on my feet, hands, and chest, I figured this would work better. I couldn't find a unitard I liked, either, the stitching was always in really weird places. I would have had to dye it too, and I'm always terrified I'm going to screw something like that up lol.
I didn't know Lycra doesn't dye. I guess I may have to try spray paint if I really want it lighter... I considered bleach too, but had the same thought about it getting blotchy.
I love how your Cortana suit turned out, it looks phenomenal. I love your idea about using the clear heels. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I felt like I should ask first since it was your idea. I feel like it's creative licensing or something lol. I do a lot of writing, and it's a little different, but I know I would be pretty pissed if someone used one of my ideas without asking me. I'd love to use your idea about the heels, but if you'd rather me not, I completely understand that. I could find some blue heels or flats and paint them the proper color, that wouldn't be too hard.

@Pipinacan Thank you, I had absolutely no clue lol, I'm such a noob at this. I'll definitely cut out that panel then, that way the bicep will be at least a little closer to fitting right.

Thanks so much for the advice and comments, everyone :)

I am new at pep work but with my Vader costume, which had to be the correct size even though I'm not 6'7, I know that padding can go a long way to making it look right and fit right.

Finally, I have more work done. I've been ridiculously busy lately, and my free time has been split between a bunch of other projects I'm trying to work on. Hopefully I'll have time this week to sit and work, as I'll be shut up in a room and forced to be silent while watching plays. It'll be productive lol.

I did, however, get one more piece done. Here are a couple of pictures of my completed right thigh:

I would have taken a picture with it on, but I don't know how long it will be before I get to the resin/fiberglassing stage, and I didn't want to cut out the piece over the top and suffer possible structure damage before then.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to work on my Cortana suit for a few more weeks either; I decided to be smart and get it professionally fitted rather than turn it into a sloppy mess by myself lol. Thank goodness for jobs, but it'll be a few weeks before I'll have enough to get it to her and then get the suit back.

Thanks for all the reviews, guys! I'll probably end up cutting than panel on the arm out, but like I said before, I'll probably wait and see how the other pieces turn out.

In other news, does anyone know where I can find a pepakura file for a Portal Companion Cube? My sister loves Portal, and I thought I could make her a cube for Christmas. I can't seem to find a file, though. I'm willing to try making one on my own, but if anyone knows where I could find something, that would be much appreciated.

Well, while I'm apparently not so great at keeping internet threads updated, I'm at least somewhat better at continuing to work on projects. Amidst the hectic mess that is the transition from one school to another and the summer in between, I've been working and have three new pieces to show for it.

First, the left thigh, which I finished shortly after the right thigh. It looks to be the proper size.

Also, both shins. Which also, fortunately, look to scale.
The codpiece, which I thought I completed before starting work on the shins, is not quite right. Having woman hips apparently makes a fair amount of difference, and I'm going to have to add in a couple of panels on the sides to make it fit. I also apparently lost a piece, so it's not as complete as I thought. I'll post a picture once I get the piece I need in.
I'm going to run off the papers for the boots and helmet once I connect my laptop to the printer, and those are the only pieces I still need to do in paper. After that, it's off to resin and fiberglass. I'm not expecting to get those started before I leave for school though, so it'll probably be next summer before I can really get into that process.
My Cortana suit, however, is finally going to be fitted. I never got around to doing that, and I'm hoping that I'll have enough room in my dorm that I could work on it at school. If I can do that, I'm hoping it'll be done before Halo 4. If not, well, they say Halo 4 is the first of a new trilogy, right? :)
