Closest Shade Of Green To Master Chief

this question has been on my mind for a while. I'm just gonna bring a Mcfarlane figure to Lowe's and see if they can match it like in the commercial.

The most common name for the shade of green that matches Master Chief is "Oregano" or "Olive". However, some brands of spray paint, like Rust-o-leam, don't have names for each color; you have to go by the color of the cap.

The best way to pinpoint your best color, would be to look for a shade of green (smooth satin finish) with subtle undertones of grey or even a little brown. Of course, you can always buy a few different colors, try them out on a test piece, then return the ones that don't match.

Good Luck!

This is an issue of much debate. In short, the best match to Master Chief's green isn't something you're likely to find at a home improvement store. Automotive paints and/or professional model paints probably have the best chance of finding a close match. The best matches I've seen to the color have been closely guarded custom paint mixtures.

Consensus is that Krylon Olive drab or Rustoleum Oregano is your best bet if you don't want to spend 6 months trying to get it absolutely matched, and/or dont have an airbrush for spraying your own paint mixtures. Look at Adam's painting tutorial, it does an excellent job of demonstrating a very well matched paint scheme for Master Chief green with battle damage.

the best way (that I have found) to get the shade of green you want is to start with a silver metallic base coat and then work with olive transparent "varnish" (I mean laker... but I don't know how to spell it in english) with the transparent coating, you can built up your color to the degree of darkness you want, and you get a subtile sheen to your armor.

Rustoleum Oregano is the color I used for my armor, and it works out very well. Using Adam's painting method helps it stand out and improves the look of it as well. I know Sean has mentioned this, I just thought it's worth repeating.

Krylon Ultra Flat Olave Drab. Its Really good and you can't go wrong with Krylon. I used it to paint my airsoft gun and it works great. Its VERY close to the Master Chief's colour.

CHEERS!

The one by Krylon is actually called Italian Olive. The Oregano is under the brand American Accent, which is made by Rust-Oleum. Either one is a good choice (I intend to use Krylon). Rust-Oleum also makes another shade of green called Spruce Green, which is similar to Krylon Italian Olive but slightly darker.

There is the Krylon Italian Olive witch is a Satin colour(sort of shinny, but not too shinny), and there is the Olive Drab/Olive Green witch is part of there Ultra-Flat(no reflection at all) collection.
