no updates, lets just say I finally got free time and I used it unwisely, playing a joke on the mlp thread.

Just a minor question: you're still working on the Pioneer/Soldier chest pieces right?

If you're putting it off to the side I'd love to add to those parts so they can be done easier.

Edi: I'm wondering why I said "easier" at the end. I meant to say "FASTER"

But yes, I really want to see them done. I know it's YOUR project and don't mean to go crawling up your hindquarters... but...

Sorry i had some problems with my computer, but now it work again!
Finaly here the foam friendly unfold of the sout chest!

Hey Crimmson, i can't find more references of the warlock...
Maybe you can make the model of the Titan, i have the rear and the front image! :D

Death Angel I will see what I can do, helmets really kick my butt, I have a hard time modeling them.

I looked for these, well actually just the unsc pack, and could not find them so I thought I would model it. then I remembered I already had them they just need to be cleaned up and made ready.

these are the game models, which I cleaned up. not much work was needed. I know most people don't want these, but for the few crazies that want a more complete armor, here you go.

the floating faces on the unsc pack are done on purpose. the folds would be to small and to hard to pep, so I decided to just make them floating faces which you can then reference and make out of foamies.

I included all three in the pack

I remember a while back people were going nuts to find these, mostly we could find the chest, helmet of course, but I don't recall ever finding the shin plates

I put this pic up with bitmaps to show that it is not the same problem child from a while back or maybe that's how I remember it.

now to look for that ever reclusive back pack

I'll see what I can do to unfold the backpack. I havent seen a file for that anywhere and wanted a higher definition one anyway.

the back pack needs to be mesh welded, not much just some. how much more definition? can you upload a pic with edits please, to see what you mean?

As for mesh welding...I have no clue what that means lol. As for differences the file I have now looks NOTHING like Jorge's backpack at all.

yes that is a big difference from the game rip on the left. not sure who made the one on the right, its not to bad actually, I actually never seen it as a pep. I have seen a build with it included.
mesh weld is when you have multiple models creating a much larger model. the red lines on the left model are a dead give away in this case.

jorgespackintersecting.jpg

this is the cross section from inside of the pack. bottom left knob in the pic, I would have to remove the tris and turn them into quads, add a mesh loop, delete unneeded faces and attach

like this, top right of pack

Well I only have Autodesk Inventor and haven't done much with it besides a Engineering class in high school. I was thinking about unfolding it the way it is and recommending all the knobs be made out of foam or something similar, Like a flat face, I personally wouldn't want to pep out all the small knobs.

I am on the same page as you. I am only going to mesh weld the big knobs, the amo dispenser on the bottom right and then check for open edges, BBBBUUUTTT since you gave the idea it would save time if I left them as floating faces on a different pep file. thanks for the idea.

edit:
by doing it your way I no longer have to align the knobs to make the surface that they attaching to flat, now they can make them out of foam and glue them directly to a flat surface. thanks again for the idea.

Well if you are indeed going to mesh weld the file I may as well stop working on the one you uploaded prior and just work with the other file after you get done. The big knobs and ammo dispenser I can see doing and would probably make the build easier. I just meant the small knobs specifically. those would be way to hard to pep up for someone who isnt really good at peping.

almost done. dispenser mesh welded, the big knobs are left as floating faces.

I think the small knobs could be built a lot easier from scratch

ok so here is what's happened since my last post 1 million years ago. mesh welded the dispenser on the back pack, edited the big round faces to where they are floating faces to be made separate or from foam and glued or attached some how to the sides. the small "knobs" on the other hand would be to hard to pep onto the back pack, make one for reference and then make them out of foamies and attach. I think this is much, much easier. thank you Nomaybeyes for the idea. enjoy.

imagine having to make this over and over. I don't think so

Thanks for playing around with the model. I think the changes will make it much easier to do. Glad to give yo the ideas and thank you for giving me some more unfolding practice!
