First build - Mirage Core

Hi there,



For those of you who dont know me, Im Wing, Mnkr’s identical twin brother. Until recently I have mostly just lurked and hopped in discord for the occasional game night.

However, years of watching my brother(and the rest of you) make cool stuff (and getting to steal his marine suit for a few conventions to match the one he made for my son) has made me decide to get back into 3d printing for the first time since college. To tackle this i acquired a Neptune 4 Plus and am now about 2 weeks into messing with it.



For my first project im tackling the mirage core with the Mk7 helmet and TAS Netmoon attachment. Mnkr got the helmet printed for me as a christmas present and i decided well ill already have a helmet, might as well buy a printer and make the rest of the suit.

I have already printed a few pieces since getting started and so far I’ve printed my fingercaps, hand plates, 1 forearm (at the correct scale, i test printed it a few times trying different orientations on the build plate and at different scales before i was able to get mnkr to help me with proper scale) and my Netmoon.

If you need any help on bits, or things resin printed just let me know it'll save you plenty of time on clean up and I got two resin printers that I can churn and burn.

Over the past 2 days ive gotten through printing both bicep pieces. (After only 1 failed print, my fault though, took my computer out of sleep mode and accidentally changed the pressure advance setting in fluidd which i didnt catch right away resulting in some really bad gaps.) The one on the left had some ghosting going on that appears to have been corrected on the 2nd attempt by tightening up the wheels.

Had a busy week of printing. Also on a whim decided to attempt my first ever large print and decided to print the spi/mirage helmet and put my full print bed to the test.

Busy couple days. Tragedy struck the other day and my son dropped and cracked Mnkr’s halo 3 marine helmet that ive been borrowing/using since i didnt have a suit, knocking it out of commission for C2E2 and forcing me to use my patrol cap this year(which led to me printing the unsc logo for it(i think it was Fallen’s Model on thingiverse iirc in which case thank you!)) I felt so bad about the helmet that i printed & springed up the black m6c pictured above for him. (Which turned out way better than mine and im probably reprinting a good chunk of mine with the lessons learned so far)

I also sanded and primed the helmet over the weekend and printed out my shinguards and knee caps over the past 2 days.

Any guidance/tips on sizing the boot pieces would be greatly appreciated as i plan on tackling those next!

Printed the small pieces for strapping the shins. Walked away at the end and came back to my first plate of spaghetti.
