UPDATE:

The sniper goggles are *almost* ready for unfolding, so I'll have the link up and running shortly. I hope they are accurate, but there isn't much view of the back of the goggles in the picture PhilzZ was referring to. Still, I eyeballed it and it came out pretty well. Here's some screenshots! (PS - I'll add the link after I fix the normals on the lens geometry)

As seen in Pepakura (where I noticed the reversed normals):

And, hey, Ral Partha, I'm amazed you got that thing to less than 15 easy pieces on two pages with lots of margin space. I'll update the chest plate links and screenshots on the main thread immediately! You sure have the unfolding thing down, man!

Glad to see some more great unfolds,

Shade

i want Ral Partha to unfold it

Ironically link, I do too! Lol

Nightshade, as much as I want to help out in this thread, I think we all know that Ral Partha's unfolds are the best :p And I can vouch for them because I put together his shoulder and sniper plates! They're the best, and I'd rather have him do it, than submit my own mediocre work. Thanks Ral Partha! Keep on doing your thing dude

Where is the pouch supposed to go, and are you doing the WHOLE suit, or just the new parts... Cause I'm still running around trying to find pep's for the rest of the armor.

Can you paweeese post pics of the completed sniper plates? I haven't seen any yet ...

And HeavyGunner, I completely understand. Everyone on this forum does a good job of treating everybody with respect, but sometimes you can't help but state the truth, that the truth is that Ral Partha's unfolds are pretty much the best. (Not saying that just to you, but to most unfolders), so that's totally cool.

And Kaya Tetsu, I'm glad to hear that you wanna use some of these files. I hope they help your suit be all it can be

And to NEO, I'm just gonna keep doing pieces until I loose interest ... which may take some time. Instead of running around looking for files, though, find one file, pep it, find another file, pep it, etc. It makes the waiting much more bearable (spelling?) ... and productive!

PS - Th3 FETT MAN, looks like I'm not the only one that
beat you to it
.... hehehe. I keep finding that funny for some reason (if you dont get it, ignore me ... ooorrr, read the first page of the old ODST Armor Thread)

(And how to the goggles look???)

googles look good and ill try to get some of my unfolds to be as good as rals if i can get anygood at it
(Ill start practicing :D )

The goggles are just plain sexy

and I considered doing that, but I don't want to end up like the Master Chief armor, I was using FS parts, and when I went to get the torso, the link wasn't working, then my baby brother destroyed my helmet..... So I want to get all the files first and foremost, that way I don't have to worry about the links getting messed up, or the files vanishing, but if you are going to be doing the suit until you get bored, I'll just sit and wait, and work on the parts while you shoot out more of them.

Oh, and I don't see an answer to my other question, where does the pouch go, I don't have any reference pictures with it as far as I can see.

Okay, cool, I think I won't put the pouches, I'm just doing the H3 ODST model, No sniper, cause then I'd be making a rifle instead of a MA5K, which is cooler, I dunno, I kinda wanna do both, or maybe I can do the the sniper stuff and just add it and remove it as I feel like it, dunno, arughhh, choices. Oh, did anyone do the backpack yet.

-Head explodes-

Solves my problems

Just because of that cute kitty you bet! :p The pics will be pretty big, I took them with my dad's 10 megapixel monster. Hopefully they'll be reduced automatically.

Ok, the pics should be good this time. If they're not, I'll eat my hat. Or maybe a bondo sandwich.... Yum

Just upload them on ImageShack.us (no account required) and use the "Resize Images" option to around 800x600 or something ... glad to know you like the kitty

PS - I think I may do the big backpack once the other chest pieces are done. Since no one has said anything negative about the sketch, I'll assume it's accurate enough to start modeling. I'll start tomorrow, or tonight. I kind of wanted to play Soldier Front tonight. I don't know

Hey, can someone tell me what size all the files are, below is the list of the files I have;

ODST chest plate = RalPartha
ODST gauntlet = Th3 FETT MAN
ODST shoulder and sniper plates = HeavyGunner

Like if they are done by the who pepped them's sizes, ummm, what sizes are you so I know where to compare to myself, I'm 5'9, almost 10

And yes, The back pack sketch you drew is Sweet (y)

ODST shoulder and sniper plates = HeavyGunner

No! Stop! Please do not use my unfold. I would much rather you use Ral Partha's unfold of the shoulder. If you do not want to print the sniper plate, then just don't print the last 3 pages of his file. Trust me, my unfold was scaled much too small, and was also too hard to put together. Use his, trust me it's worth it! ;)

Hey HeavyGunner, those pieces are slick, man, nice pepping. They look really nice, so thanks for posting! It looks like this file won't need a whole gallon of bondo and a patience's worth of sanding to look smooth. It's already half-way there. Nice pics, glad they are a good size.

And NEO, my new chest plate was printed at 306mm, but I may need to scale it up if the size is still too small. The tips should be near the sides of your chest. I don't know what size your chest is, so I can't really help you there. I don't think anyone's pepped Th3 FETT MAN's gauntlets yet (I may have a crack at doing those some time, so they look less like grenades and more like armor ... I'm sorry, FETT), so you're on your own there. The shoulder/sniper files should be pretty easy to eyeball. Look at a render and decide on a good scale for you based on where the armor should sit on your shoulder and how long down your arm it should go.

And ... umm ... the sketch I put up was for the chest equiptment, not the backpack. I ... really don't know where you got that ...

Hey, HeavyGunner, way to be on gaurd there. Looks like you're all for Ral Partha's files now. If you really don't like your unfolds, tell me to remove them from the main post (it makes file handling much simpler, just to let you know. Less unfolded versions floating around).

And ACDCRockr, thanks, man! I'm glad you like them. Do you plan to build the goggles when somebody (*cough cough*) decides to quickly unfold them?

BTW does anyone agree that we should get a few of the good files up on the Halo Armor Wiki?

Ummmm, okay, I didn't see his file.... And I don't think yours is too bad..... I'll check his out I guess..... o_O
And your peps are fine, You should see my crummy pep of the phobes helmet I found somewhere in the forums, It sucks, I couldn't figure out how to fix it, Keep it up, and don't give up, or else I'll find you and get you

I finished these a few days ago just havent had time to upload this pic, I didnt see anyone post sizing on this but I've made 3 of these already the first I didnt even finish because it was to small Id say that 350mm should be a good size the 400mm is just a little to big for me and I'm 6'if that helps anyone.

Hey Timecon, nice to see you back! Those peps look superb! Do you even score the sheets before you start cutting the pieces out? Just wondering. I think 320 should be good for me (I'm around 5'4"). The photoes are great. It looks like you left out the small raised plate at the bottom of the bottom piece and the holes on the sides of the upper plate. Not like that's bad. Just wondering if you did it because the folds were too small. (Or am I wrong and you actually didn't leave them out ... maybe it's the picture).

Th3 FETT MAN said:
neo my gauntlets are peped and are 4in x 7.8 in 4 up and 7.8 long
and timecon look awesome :D
I'm sorry if I sound like a noob... But what does 4in x 7.8 in 4 up and 7.8 long mean, Is the 7.8 the length of the entire forearm, and what is in 4 up.... my forearm length is roughly 10 or 11 inches

To Nightshade, sorry, I mistook that picture someone posted of the sniper ODST with a small sketch on the side as a sketch by you, and thank you for the measurement Ideas, I think I have a rough Idea of how big I want it.

To Timecon, wow, you jump on everything awesome and make it amazing, don't you. XP
