Hey Timecon, nice to see you back! Those peps look superb! Do you even score the sheets before you start cutting the pieces out? Just wondering. I think 320 should be good for me (I'm around 5'4"). The photoes are great. It looks like you left out the small raised plate at the bottom of the bottom piece and the holes on the sides of the upper plate. Not like that's bad. Just wondering if you did it because the folds were too small. (Or am I wrong and you actually didn't leave them out ... maybe it's the picture).

Thanks! and yes I do score the lines but after they are cut out
no the folds werent to small they are fine I just like to add the detail parts with bondo they seem to come out better for me.

That's what she said.

Sorry.

Oh, and the main post has been editted. Updated the Chest Plate links, etc. New screenshots of the goggles. A bit of reorganization. You know. I also removed a few unfolded files to make navigation easier. I hope you don't mind (no, they weren't Ral Partha's versions)

hey night, g

gotta quick suggestion on the sniper goggles,

wouldnt the back of the goggles be shaped to mate the visor since you would want it to fit on the visor snug, much like the night vision/heat vision goggles used by spec forces conform to the contours of the face when placed over the eyes to seal out any unwanted light and debris (rambles on)?

anyway, just a thought, if ya think it wouldnt be worth is, then dont worry about it, just figured i would throw in a few of my thoughts since (as far as i know) we have no ref pics of the back, so its however yall wanna make them

if you didnt understand any of that dont worry, im not sure i understand it either o_O

Actually, Syphon, I kind of know what you mean, but didn't you see the pictures? I tried to shape the back of the goggles to do just that:

Isn't that enough of a curve? I don't know, I'm just the modeler. I haven't made an ODST helmet (yet) so I don't know how well it would fit.

i saw it, i was thinking more angular, then i remembered that the angular visor is still a little hard to make

lol ignore that earlier post, the goggles look awesome

Everything is looking sweet! But I have one slight critique of the chest piece. On the middle portion right now you have the left and right edges curved slightly like an ellipse, but on the game shots its more of a hyperbola-like shape.

You mean like this?

PS - I would be sweet to make a mould and pour in silicone for the outer edges of the goggles. Then they would be flexible and fit everything.

"That's what she said"

ROFL!! I thought I would never see that in a forum before. I guess i'm not the only one who watches The Office, right??

I am going to begin peping some peices tomorrow. I was busy this whole week so I couldn't get around to it.

OK guys, I started on the chest equiptment plates, and I finished the lowest plate (sorry, that one is kind of boring, but at least I got it over with). Here's the link and some screenshots. If you don't recognize the plate, take a look back at my sketch and the render posted previously:

To Nightshade, hey, that's my email address, Anyway.... no problem, I set myself up for that.

And sweet, more parts, I'm gonna try to unfold this one.... Scratch that, I tried, and even just hitting the unfold button is better then what I did.

see where the purple lines are? sorry they are different colors photoshop was giving me a wierd error until I changed one to a different color.

Thanks so much guys for the Sniper goggles and the Lower equipment parts .... it's really awesome !!! Keep it up !!

OK, warhound, I see what you mean. I'm still debating whether to edit the file for a fourth time (and ask the unfolders to unfold it for the fourth time), or just to leave it as-in. If a good number of people want it changed, I'll do it.

And PhilzZ, Glad you're liking the files: I hope you like this ...

And thanks, Th3 FETT MAN, that's a great unfold, and I deem it main-post-worthy. I'll add it soon. Here's another challenge for you guys ...

UPDATE: NEW EQUIPTMENT PLATES READY

I finished the size equiptment plates which sit beside the center plate (which I'll do next)

I have files for both the right and left plates, so here are the links:

Oh man, I don't check back for a couple of days and this thread has just exploded to the rest of the parts of the ODST. You're all pumping out insane work.

Thanks nightshade for all the hard work, thanks to heavygunner, f3tt, ral partha for all the unfolds! Can't wait to see the next couple of pieces!

Also, I know there was a little bit of interest a couple of posts (or pages) back about the scaling. For the shoulder piece, I'm 5'8 and I used a build height of 29cm (290mm) for it and I think it looks good and proportional. Here it is on my mannequin:

Good luck with the rest of the modeling and awesome work so far.

Edit: sorry, also a quick question. Do you know if these body plates follow the same scaling pattern as the other body plates from the WETA set? because I know you're supposed to build that main torso part first and then use that scale for the body plates in order to correspond scale. but I'm assuming that the body plates will all have to be scaled seperately?
