I have always wanted to make a Buzz Lightyear suit. Don't ask why. Maybe its because of my kids, maybe its the kid in me, but I've always wanted to do it. I was thinking about doing a hardened space marine concept Buzz, gritty, subdued colors, more detailed suit, battle damage... OH MY GOD ITS MASTER CHIEF LIGHTYEAR 117. Or Buzz 117? UNSC Space Ranger Lightyear 117? Whatever his name is, I'm doing it. Buzz Lightyear full body with Chief colors, Chief's armor plating, etc. In the planning stage now, doing some sketches, I already have the bubble dome helmet thing (empty keg ball). TO INFINITY (...hehe, get it?...) AND BEYOND!

More soon...

Oh yeah...

nikolojedison that's what's inside of a recyclable beer keg.
@everyone else, thanks!!!

Still planning, but quick question, do you guys think I should tint the bubble gold? It will slide open like Buzz's and I will be wearing a (modified) Buzz mask underneath... If yes, how would I go about such tinting?

lets buzzess jet back laser arm piece that he rips the sticker out of and made the paint job but the rest should be a mix of the two helmet wise haft Spartan haft buzz

I'd say absolutely yes, dye it gold! You can dye it with RIT, or another type of dye, then spray MirraChrome on the inside to give it the reflection. It would be cool if you found a hex pattern stencil and added that too. :D

Not gonna lie, a gritty-realism Buzz Lightyear is something I'm looking forward to seeing. I'm still not entirely sure how it ties into the Chief? I mean I get the colour scheme, and maybe the numbering, but are you using MJOLNIR parts in this, or...?

@FoxtrotZero,he clearly shows a pic with the standard Buzz and his drawing of what he plans to do right below it. You can see that the shoulders, forearms, hand plates, thighs, shins, cod, and even the chest are going to modded to give certain attributes of Chief's H4 armor. It ties into the Chief quite well.

Alright, I know its been a while but this build is very much active. I've been playing around with arduino and servos and such as there will be a few automated features on this suit. I bought a new arduino uno because I was having issues with the micro, the uno is working well. The suit will have a servo that opens and closes the visor, a mini spartan laser will pop up out of the forearm where buzz's laser is, annnnnnd this...
Its just a small scale model I built to make sure the parts move and work right before I built the real one.

Opening and expanding wings! Just need to acquire a cheap linear actuator...

I thought buzz's just pops out. and even then the chiefs jet pack has two small jets on either side of it. not to say this isn't a bad idea but to me this seems like its going to weight a lot more then the other ways.

If they just popped out they wouldn't be long enough. I'm not worried about weight. Either way, the wings are a necessary buzz attribute to the suit.

like the bottons on the front are too but I'd like to know what sayings you'd put on them, heck I'd put his line about cortana calling him a machine. that is a great line.

You could pop them out rather than swing them out, but "telescope" them so they double or triple in length as they extend, by having them in sections with each outermost section fitting inside the "sleeve" of its adjacent inside section. Then you'd get the correct motion AND the desired length.
