I really hope this armor and helmet get changed, not too big a fan of the "snout" on the helmet or the very Mk IV/ Halo-Wars style armor design.

How long did it take everyone to realize that's what the video was for? I'll admit it took me almost until the reveal that it was Chief. When I first could make out "John!" it kinda sounded like Sarah Connor so I was thinking Terminator. Needless to say my face got to about 4 inches away from the screen when I realized what I was watching. No blinking or breathing. Just gasps and joyous laughter. 2012 feels so far away now.

I didn't figure it out right away either. I had about the same reaction as everyone else in this thread when I realized what it was. Breathlessness, mouth agape, near pants peeing excitement. Then happy dances throughout the house.

I think it looks like it's Reach's MP on Classic maps. There's no way that's the same engine that's running the HD CE in those parts, watch the ragdolls and animation of both. Maybe it's gonna be like ODST- the CE campaign and online Coop, and Reach's Multiplayer with a CE Map pack.

The "pistol" the chief uses might not be a pistol at all. if you look, he fires one shot and something blue explodes in front of him. later when he puts the "silencer" on, if you look he doesn't screw it on. he appears to slid it on to some form of rod on the front of the gun. My theory is some form of explosive flare gun.

Watching it a few times, I think you're dead on. Not only this, but he fires 1 shot, and then apparently needs to reload. In addition, the round he fires appears to be rocket propelled.
I agree with the comments on the Jetpack...so my assumption is that like with most of the marketing videos, this one is to be taken as non-canon, but as a taste of things to come, and we will see chief get the Mark VII at some point after he awakens from Cryo.

So....I'm very curious as to where the lore will go with this game. How long has Chief been in Cryo? The covenant was effectively broken at the end of 3...so is he now facing the remnants, or is it a new enemy of some kind? Will he be going truly Solo in this game with no support from the UNSC at all since he's too far from earth?
Please please please don't mess this up 343.....

also, maybe chief got an upgrade to his MK. 6 over the course of halo 3 that wasn't essential to the story that allows him to have a built in jet-pack? idk but it was cool ^.^

Could be . Frank O'Conner just talked about Halo anniversary . It will have firefight, you can switch between 'classic' and 'hd' , competetive multiplayer that works on the reach multiplayer system AND its all priced for $39.99

I got a little theory here. Master chief has never really been exposed to space, except for the last cutscene in halo 3.

He probably already had the jetpack, but never needed to use it. i mean, notice how the reach jetpack kind of looks like the back of the mark 6 armor?

There are way too many differences in the armor for this to be the Mark VI. If they they and pass it off as such, fans (like me) are gonna be angry. I think it's gotta be the Mark VII. I just hope they give an explanation for how he got it.

I would think that this being the 10th anniversary, they will have a EPIC legendary edition. Lets hope so . If so, I may have to cancel my Gears 3 epic editon pre-order .
