I just can't stand people having to make slyfo's models, with all their open edges, undeleted faces, and the fact that he STILL hasn't released all the files. Plus he says his computer is broken.

I'll just size it all correctly, delete and re-arrange the appropriate faces, and make sure the are no open edges, and release them. I'll release them all in one pack.

Heres an update on my Basic Beta Model progress.

First day I finished most of the models. For the last few days I haven't been able to work on them. I'm back to work now, and I've completely finished both the boots, and the belt (only been able to work on it less than an hour). Starting with all the Mk VI armor, then the variants.

I thought he had? He only has the raw beta models like everyone else. according to some modders I talked to, the retail .obj's have been encrypted, apparently bungie didnt find it very funny when the game assets were ripped from the beta. The people out there looking for the retail models could be in for a very long wait, if they get them at all.

The encryption thing is only if you want to mod H3, and burn it to a disk to play on a modded 360. They haven't found the encryption yet, and it won't happen for a while.
Now for the extracting models, it's not to hard if you know hex editing really well, but the majority of the modders are working on finding the encryption and making programs for modding, and the ones who find out how to extract the H3 retail models will most likely keep it to themselves.
So yes the retail models WILL come out eventually, but who knows how long that will be.
I'd try, but I'm still working on the high detail beta models, and I'm not that great at hex.

Other models aren't up yet. I've only completed the high detail boot, and am going to release the basic models in packs (Mk VI pack, and all the other variants.)

For the beta files, I still need to unfold the thigh, chest, forearm, lower leg, and finish the helmet (won't take long, finished all the other pieces today). The variants will be put up a little bit after the Mk VI.
 
Halo 3 Beta assets aren't encrypted... Bungie just reorganized the map structure and changed the way that the raw data is pointed to. None of the Raw Data is encrypted. I really don't think Bungie cares if their data is ripped. I think they are more or less worried about their game being modded online like last time.

Now, No more discussion over the Beta Assets and get back on topic.

Why did you make the Tabs on the boots 1.8 mm? You can't even glue those things!

I didn't. I made them 3.0mm. I don't know why it says 1.8 in the tabs part, but if you change all flap widths to 3mm, they all stay the same, but if you put it to 1.8mm, they all get smaller.
Should I change them to 5mm? If you scaled the boot, you might need to change the tab sizes, because they get scaled too (scale model to 50%, tabs will also be at 50% normal size.

according to my sources the hex values for the games meshes were encrypted on the retail version.

Obviously your "sources" don't know what they are talking about, or the don't know what "encryption" means. Go make a "Encrypted models" topic over at Halomods, they would say your "sources" don't know what they are talking about, and have your topic locked. As Doom said, the map structure was re-organized from the Halo 2 map structure. The maps were not encrypted.

I don't see why he should be banned. It's no like he's teaching others how to break the code or any of that sort..
 
Sorry, wasnt trying to sound like a jerk, just sharing what I thought was good information but, Im willing to accept my information isn't correct if I see it demonstrated otherwise. My "i'll say what I please" comment was reactionary, as I thought the editing of beta assets was what the topic was to begin with,. Its cool I wont talk about it anymore. :cool:
 
Thanks a ton for the great boot!! Has anyone had a chance to figure out what the scale would be for a size 10 boot?
 
WOW, nice work robo,

I just finished the left upper arm, the tabs were abit small, but do able, the double back area on the upper arm was interesting. in that same area is a an open area, small but still open. I will say that was by far the most difficult pep I have done yet. mostly because of the tabs. But it came out nice.

One thing would it be possible to make internal struts for strength, and shape? The openess of the upper arms doesnt fair welll once its put together. It doesnt hold its shape right. this can be fixed when glassing by placing it over a round piece of PVC pipe... but would be easier with a base to the bottom section of it, like the forearms, or something.

Just an idea!

Same here - scaled down some stuff and the tabs were barely there (1.5mm). Just have to make sure you check the size of the tabs before you print. I usually put mine at 5mm.
