Dude that's awesome. Be super careful with your dremel lines and you've got it made!

It was definitely a bit scary but worked out pretty well once I figured out how to hold it.
After that and some sanding I added my primer coat! Looks pretty good, might add a little spot putty in some tiny holes but overall I'm happy with how it is turning out before paint


Now to hit it with some high grit wet sanding

Those are some great lines! What bit did you use a d how did yoh get them so straight and at perfect angles? This is inspiring me to spend a whole weekend doing nothing but sanding, yet I still dont want to xD

Thanks! I had the lines sharpied out first (by the wife cuz I can't do crisp lines). I will send a picture tonight of how I held it when cutting the lines, just took a lot of patience and sometimes going over the same spot a few times just with more pressure.
I ended up using the dremel cut-off wheels that are about 1/4" thick I think. Then hot glued 100 grit to a thin popsicle stick to buff it out on the inside.
Then I glued 320 grit to a popsicle stick to do the same thing.

Smol update, wet sanded and did my base coat of spray paint, gonna have to sand one part I accidentally touched during drying and respray.

Tonight I plan on taping and spraying on those sweet secondary lines.

So what I have learned from the whole HALO universe is that Master Chief and the Spartan's are the go to super soldiers that everyone loves and rightfully so, but Damn, if I don't love the aesthetics of the ODST armor! Thoroughly enjoyed watching this build come to fruition.

You're here just in time for the end! And thanks Elcorio I definitely agree with that. Anyway, update time!!
Had the girl tape up the helmet so I could spray paint the secondaries and then after that was over I taped up the helmet to brush some acrylic black on to the detail areas. Turning pretty good, just gotta weather and blackwash (which will cover up some of my bad tape lines)

nope! gotta weather and black wash(clear coat after each), which will take 2 more nights i'm guessing (and then visor work..), but i'm sure I can sneak in a full suit up pic before next weekend

I want to thank Elcorio for his advice(Instagram guide) on making the odst visor without vacforming. Here's my little walk through then pics.

• I started by taking the ODST visor from my pep file and bumping it up 8% (10% would have been better.
• Next I cut out the template + added the folding lines or scored them then test the paper in the helmet.
• I used icon props Etsy visor sheets rather then making my own visor material. I cut out the templates on the visor sheet. Added a 1/2" to the top and didn't leave the dip that the odst visor top has. I also added some space for"tabs" on the bottom piece.
• Contact cemented the tabs to the top piece like you would with a pep piece.

And you're done, you can install your new home made ODST visor. And it looks dang good I think.

You have been doing such a good job on this build. It has been great seeing your progress and honestly you didn't rush and that is what made this suit turn out so good. I can't wait to see how much more you improve after a con experience. Great work!

I never went in to my build with the intent that others might use things I did as a reference or starting point and it humbles you when you realize that someone new to this is looking to you for guidance and help. Last night was fun, I shoe gooed my boot covers to my shoes finally.
I Fully padded my helmet with airsoft pads and upholstery foam. I also put in my fans and created a foam housing for the battery pack that powers my fan. You can see it below the white foam in the back of the helmet


Just gotta shoe goo my snap fastneres that are cemented to my armor and a full suit up should be ready by tomorrow or Friday

Over the winter I will be doing upgrades such as flipping the cod upside down and adding stencils to the mix but I would call this complete before my deadline by about a week!!

I want to thank all of you for your support and help, as someone who has never touched a crafty thing before you all helped me immensely whether directly or through tutorials. Thanks 405th I'll be deploying shortly.
