Ok, I think I know what you're talking about now. I believe those spatulas are a bit too rigid to be effective with bondo. The spreaders sold by bondo (or other brands meant for body filler) work best IMO.

Does anyone know where i could buy magic sculpt(2 part clay epoxy) in a store? i tired Homedepot and Ace hardware. If anyone knows where in san diego, I can buy a 2 part clay epoxy that would be great. thanks

Sounds like u need new filter pads. When they wear out the fumes can seep through, i would look into buying new filter pads

Hmm. I bought these new. (Respirator came with particle filters) As soon as I tried them out I could smell the resin, first time and everything. Is there anything else that could be wrong?

hmmm try this test to see if the respirator is sitting correctly on ur face lol

1. put on the respirator
2. exhale test- place the palm of your hand over the circle thing in the front, and exhale. if the seal is properly closed around ur mouth and face, the respirator would start to start to make u feel a slight pressure build up

you might have a faulty respirator if no other explanation is reached. i would try and figure out what could be wrong before you begin to work again
good luck

I tried that, and I feel a slight tug on my face. A question for those with this respirator, do I place one pad in each cartridge or two? The clear cover doesn't fit all the way with two.

no dont worry thats what these threads are for :) trust me im still a noob too

yes that is definatly one factor to your problem. if that seal for the filters isnt closed correctly u could definatly have a leak

Hello. Sorry if this question has been asked before, I didn't want to look through 231 pages for an answer.

I've just finished my Pep helmet, Luckily.

Should I cover it in resin?
What does Bondo do?

Thanks. -Jed

Ok so pep is done, great , now I would cover the outside in a vey thin layer if resin, this thin layer is the beginning shape of ur helm, then I would resin the inside then wait(again thin layer) then once that layer is hard then fiberglass the inside .

Bondo is this mud like substance that u will use on the out side of your helmet. Use bondo to smooth out any high and low spots caused by warping. Also bondo is used for detailing hope this helped

yesterday i was going to rondo a section of my helmet, i understand how to mix rondo, my problem was my tape dam. i was trying to place the tape on the bondo on the out side but it wouldnt stick to it for some reason. any advice? thanks
