Ok my next question concerning the torso is I've noticed that some people use a material called Styrene for building the torso and rest of the armor peaces which is supposed to be better than just fiber-glassing cardboard. But then I saw someone on here who did their reach armor in foam his name is Tim and his armor is amazing so I'm wondering for a first timer like me which would be better? Build the Torso in Styrene, or try my luck with foam and hopefully be done by San Diego comic con

I don't think styrene is what you really mean. Polystyrene (which is solid plastic) or polyester resin (which contains large quantities of styrene) come to mind instead, maybe it's one of those?

Yea I think that is what I am talking about. I looked for it at my local hardware store and I found polystyrene but it wasn't plastic just some kind of hard styrofoam.

Styrofoam is polystyrene - there's just air in it :)

yea your right I'm not trusting this material to be sturdy enough for a spartan armor I may just buy the foam and try to build my carter shoulder pads and if I'm successful in that then I'll do the rest with foam.

I've been looking for an answer to this question but havent been able to find on:
After scaling my armor properly, many pieces went off a normal sized sheet of paper. How do i print these? (zipper tool??)

You can rearrange the pieces by click-holding, and then dragging the pieces where you want them, or you can rotate them with with the rotate tool. Click the second button from the left on the bottom row in Designer 3.0. It looks like 3 ovals connected with 2 lines. This will bring up a whole bunch of circles on the pieces. Click on one, then click-drag on another to rotate the piece.

If, after you've rearranged things as Hickeydog describes, you still have part(s) that span multiple pages you have two choices:

1. Print the parts on the multiple pages. Then tape or glue the piece(s) back together once you cut it out; or
2. Use Pepakura's "Join/Disjoin" faces function to spit the part(s) into smaller pieces (available in the 2D Menu - edit mode).

I have some models I want to unfold, but they have flipped faces. Now the flipped faces ARE organized into sections and not random all over the place and I have no editing software so when I unfold them, can I just invert them so that they are normal when I assemble them in real life?

For example:

Too impractical for my taste. What I do is that I import the .obj file into the Wings 3D program (free download) and then immediately export the model as a .3ds file. Most of the time, Wings re-orients the faces correctly. If there are some unflipped faces, I then import the .3ds file into SketchUp (also a free download) and manually reverse the faces. Since the sections are separate, reversing the faces becomes easier by highlighting the entire section and then reverse their faces at the same time. Then export as a .dae or .kmz file.

Thanks very much for the advice! I'll be sure to try that out. I have a bunch of masks that are like that, so hopefully that'll work.

I have a question. I noticed that when you go to adjust the scale of your armor you can only change one of the numbers. (its not a big deal for me cause the scale its set on is perfect for my size) But I tried to change two of them but when I changed one, the rest of them did and I couldnt "fine tune" it.

That's the way Pepakura is. You can only adjust one number. It keeps the model consistent. If you want to change the shape of the model, you have to use modeling software and get the permission from the original creator.

halo reach pilot helm

I was wondering has anyone found a pepakura file for the Halo Reach pilot helm its one of my favorites and I was kinda hoping to build one sometime soon.

Yes. Type "halo reach pilot's helmet" in the search bar near the top of this page and you'll find it. Make sure that you use this forum feature if you need to find something.

hi 405th,
So I just got done pepping a reach vest. And I know I scaled it correctly but I tried it on and I just can't get the two underarm pieces to fit over my shoulder without lots of tension(one side ripped). So I haven't fiberglasses anything yet and I'm wondering how durable is it afterwards. Will I be able to squeeze into it without it breaking or should I make one of the underarm pieces detachable?
Thanks in advance,
Blue

help plz

ok when i try to print in pep the numbers super overlap and ive tried to find how to change font size but i cant figure it out there is no option that i can see what the websites are telling me to do. also when i print out low definition hand plates the lines dont show up only the numbers do. it is scale related but if i make the scale bigger it prints the lines but it doesnt fit my hand. so i dunno what to do

Hey guys. My helmet seems pretty big right now, I used the pepakura scaling tool someone made. But this thing still looks pretty big. Are they supposed to be a lot bigger before you resin them or add anything but the paper to them? I'm really hoping it isn't too big.

Edit: Measuring it it measures 1' 4'' long. And 11'' high Is this too big? (MkVI)

For the helmet, bigger is usually better. Unless you're doing an ODST, where the helmet needs to fit snugly around your head. But for a Spartan, the helmet is big.
