Nevermind I figured it out... I just wasn't zooming in all the way so I couldn't see the numbers.
Hello!
If I was to use Pepakura for the helmet of my hero suit from "Tiger & Bunny," how would I go about breaking it down so that the helmet could open properly? Is this method suitable for something like that or is there a better alternative method?
not to much experinece with this kind of stuff but i have a suggestion
i think it would be along the lines with the ironman helmet because of the similarity of how it opens.
if i were to pep this "Tiger & Bunny" helmet i would either pep it into 2 main pieces, one half being the bottom jaw and back of the head and the other piece being the actual face mask part, then fiber glass and completely finish the helmet and connect both parts with some kind of hinge system to make it open as desired.
the other way i would do it is make a one piece pep helmet, finish it completely to the point where it is ready to be painted, and then cut it into 2 pieces that would work the same as described in the first method.
thats how i would go about doing it. Also sorry about the long suggestion and good luck to you
I have printed out some papercraft plans. but was wondering now that i have all the parts i dont know how to put them together or what to use. i am very new at this and would really be thankful for any help!
Thank you C.Vega for your suggestion! I was looking up some opening Iron Man helmets because I saw that similarity as well. Actually, Wild Tiger's helmet [the guy in green] seems to follow the Iron Man opening pattern to a T. The only difference with the suit I'm focusing on [the red one] is that the bulk of the top of the helmet moves a bit before the face plate slides up in turn with the jaw piece staying in place. I wonder if I could achieve something like that with the technique you described where I build the majority of the helmet and then take it apart post resin and sanding. In terms of the face plate itself that folds up behind the rest of the helmet, that's probably going to need to be made seporate so I can make sure it both looks proper and slides correctly...
Thanks again for the input! Hopefully I'll get this thing rolling this coming weekend and will start a thread with my progress!
Hello, soon i will start to make my first part of the armor and i will work directly on the paper so which paper is better to use? a 110gr or a 200gr?
That is how you scale yes, you dont need a formula to do it its as simple as measure yourself and put the measurements in, leaving space for padding. This is a good tutorial for scaling: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/31627-HaloGoddess-quot-How-To-Scale-quot-and-More-Tutorial The second post shows you which measurements to use for what piece of armor you're making so for a helmet you go with the height. You can only change one measurement in Pepakura to keep them in proportion so you're best to measure the width of your head as well and when you put in the height you measure make sure the width isnt going too wide or too narrow. If its too wide you can try padding it out to fix it. My helmet fits me perfectly but wobbles around on my head so i need to pad it out to fix that. If it comes out too narrow you'd have to try scaling the height up or in some cases you cant use a certain model if the proportions arent working out for youYesterday I found a formula that's good for finding the scaling of your armor, but i didnt write it down and now I can't find it.
Although, for a helmet, could I simply find the height from the bottom of my chin/adams apple to the top of my head and punch it in? (Then give it a half inch more or so)
